Aris... re-read what you just typed. A monitor doesn't output anything. It accepts video signals as input. That being said, a 1680x1050 monitor simply cannot display a proper 1080i/p image. The only way you can get proper 1080 display is by buying a screen that does 1920x1080 or higher (WUXGA displa...

Make sure you've updated the BIOS to the latest revision (I believe it's version F5 now). Are you running the latest Catalyst drivers? I've been able to play HD material with no problem (same board, 5200+). What media player are you using? I've had the same audio problem with HDMI on the board. I've...

I'd be glad to help you put the system together. I'm glad that you're interested in seeing how the various parts go together and knowing that everything is in place. We could take pictures along the way and post a short post with the build steps (would also help others who are interested in building...

I actually hated the window so much that I ordered another right-side panel from Antec. I've now got smooth black on both sides of the case. Besides, that side of the case is sitting up next to the desk... so I can't really see into the system anyways. :P I've never found a side vent to be useful in...

There really isn't all that much to say about the case. It's typical Antec quality all around - including their service. I had a problem with the front USB and audio connectors a few months ago. After a couple of quick emails to their tech support, they sent a replacement in the mail - free of charg...

... And Accelero S1 win in terms of cost. Less than half the price of the TRad. Fitting any fan of your choice doesn't seem too difficult either, provided you have the space. The key part there is "provided you have the space." Yes, you're right. The S1 does win in terms of price (I use both the S1...

I remember seeing someone use these fans on the T-Rad2 somewhere... but I can't seem to find the link. Even if you couldn't screw them in, you'd probably be able to use the stock mounting holes in conjunction with a few zip-ties.

For the record, you can find pictures of the insides of my system here. It's definitely possible to run the 4850 passively, as long as there's some airflow nearby.

Eclipse - Multiples all around...
My main workstation has gone through various upgrades since I bought the initial hardware a little over a year ago. Today was likely the last upgrade to this system before moving to a new platform at some point in the future (Core i7 in all likelyhood). Current Specs as follows: Case: Antec 900 Moth...

The differences are probably marginal, and the key factor here is that both do a much better job than the stock cooler. However, there is one department where the TRad wins outright - size. Anyone who's had to make a dual video card setup using the S1 can attest to the difficulties involved. Either ...

I picked up an ASUS 4850, which as far as I can tell is also a reference design. I have a passive S1 installed on the card. My idle temps are roughly 42-55-46 (there are three sensors in the GPU die itself), and load runs up to about 56-80-64 with ATI's artifact scanner. Note, this card is also fair...

I've also ordered a trial version of WHS since MS gives it out on a 120 day trial. I expect it wont be that ideal for the low power server, but it wont cost me anything to try it out if debian annoys me. Why wouldn't it be ideal? WHS is the best setup you could hope for if you're only dealing with ...
