Desktop Turion compared with Desktop Pentium M... http://www.gamepc.com/labs/print_content.asp?id=turion64 Note they compared a 25 TDP Turion on a DFI 250-GB desktop board versus 27 TDP Pentium M on DFI's 855GM board. Good info in there, I only wish they had chosen to use an ASUS board with the CT-4...

Oh well, I have the urge to build something with a P-M but I can't find an excuse to do so.

hmsrolst, thanks for the info. I just noticed that the board you are using is the M-Atx version of Asus's 865 line. Quick question, does the new BIOS also let you overvolt if you're so inclined? Or does it only let you undervolt? I ask 'cause typically the M-ATX boards don't have many overclocking f...

I'm trying to figure out if we'll be able put any 3rd party coolers with this (with mods of course)

At some point someone will figure out a better cooling solution (Not that there's anything wrong with the stock one, I'd just to see more options)

5.25", raid 1 enclosure for 2 2.5" drives

Here's something I found pretty interesting. It may have some silent pc uses. It may have some nifty HTPC uses. It may even have some applicability for small form factor folks: Ladies and Gentleman, A fanless, hardware-based Raid 1, 5.25" internal enclosure that encloses 2 2.5" hard drives: http://w...

NOTEBOOKS: I have no experience with any MobileAMD-based laptops, but nowadays most Pentium M based laptops are very silent. In some models the fan doesn't come on at all for normal tasks. The Ultra Low voltage models (900mhz -1.1 ghz) generally have no fan in them at all. CONTROLLING NOISE: Finally...

Quick question for the reviewers: Is it possible to stick a 2.5" drive in there (using a normal 2.5" -> 3.5" converter mount) and do you think it would help reduce acoustics for a 2.5" drive? Interesting results, Frosted, so is the default voltage 1.2? That seems to confirm alot of the analysis (ala anandtech): these chips are really the same as the Oakvilles and the Turion is really a rebranded relaunch of the current 90 nm mobile line. Hey Isaac, I wouldn't mind buying a ready-made 3.5" solution... I think 3.5" will give you a wider market, as many of the newer and slimmer HTPC cases have only one 5.25" mount and a few 3.5" internal mounts. BTW, NoVibes makes a 2.5 -> 3.5" suspended kit (I saw it at Silicon Acoustics), so you'd wa...
