Too much text to read. So I'll sum up my PowerColor ATI HD4830 512MB GDDR3. Modded bios, have not changed voltages: 160/200 2d mode. Gives idle temp about 30C. O/C to 700/900 (ie nothing on memory). Temp about 60C Use a AC S1 rev 2 with 1x Scythe Slipstream 800rpm. I get artifacts with 600rpm fan. 2...

There are studies on what is best to stop terrorism. To quote a recent Rand Corporation study: A new study from the RAND Corporation examined how 648 terror groups around the world ended between 1968 and 2006. It found that by far the most common way for them to disappear was to be absorbed by the p...

4GB memory according to Windows 7 but it gets the CPU speed completely wrong..says its 4.25Ghz but its at 3.8Ghz actually. 512MB gfx RAM. Couple days ago I filled the entire RAM space. System locked for like 2 minutes.. probably messing around with swapfile. I may go for 8GB again...RAM is cheap. Bt...

I tried four different graphiccards (x1900xt, hd3870 and two hd4850) and they all whined with the faulty 850w unit. Once it was replaced the graphic card that I'm using now, a Sapphire HD4850 Toxic stopped whining pretty much completely. Haven't tried the x1900xt and 3870 again but I assume that the...

I had that "high frequency chirping/squeaking noise" at least during two conditions with my former 850w unit which I have now replaced. 1. During heavy HDD activity 2. All graphic cards whined. Not when idle but when loading heavier websites with flash and similar plus in 3d-mode when the graphic ca...

Sylph-DS What you just wrote is very familiar to me. Many websites automatically started the whining from the GFX so I didn't even bother to read them while I had that problem. I tried several other graphic cards (like a x300 and x1900xt) and that didn't solve the problem at all... So it could very ...

I have the Toxic and simply changed the noisy Zalman cooler to a S1 + Scythe Slipstream 120mm 800rpm fan. I didn't even try out the Zalman VGA cooler since those easily get dusty very quickly and are not quiet enough even at 5v. As for coil whine. Had that too, but turned out to be the fault of a fa...

Actually I don't think that its the park noise anymore. It happens all too often and seems to only happen when there is heavy activity at the end of the disk where the performance is lowest. I can live with it, especially after I placed the GP in a softmounted quiet drive. For comparison the GP vers...

X-fi card if you game (excluding xtreme audio which is a software card) I had a Xonar XD a while back but had to sell it because the game support was too bad, especially for legacy games. Game engines can crash if the drivers don't fully support the application. This has happens in: Thief 1, Thief 2...
