I'll have to go back through and check my temp -> speed relationships. I haven't changed anything specifically on this motherboard, but it did just come back from an RMA repair.

Speedfan vs Fancontrol

Why am I not surprised that once I figured out how to get fancontrol working in Ubuntu 10.04 it would work far better that SpeedFan in Windows 7? It's like Speed Fan randomly forgets how to control my fans and spins them up to 100%. Worse is that no matter what I try I can't seem to get them back un...

Seems to me that you've picked up some low profile cases with some rather tall coolers (the Zipang being odd one out). I would also recommend an ATI 57xx series card for low power, video capability, gaming and audio bit-streaming directly to your reciever. Probably one of the Powercolor passive card...

I would suspect it's a combination of stresses on the motherboard and also the security of their reference pushpin design.

It should work, but I highly recommend measuring the distance from the center of the core to the I/O Panel on the card to ensure that it will fit correctly. The distance between the back edge (closest to the I/O panel) and the center of the heat plate on the cooler is roughly 2.5". It appears as tho...

I find it hard to imagine that the motherboard you purchased doesn't already have on-board sound. Check the specs... though I admit to not being familiar with Asus' MIO-PCI thing.

The Mugen2 install isn't that difficult, it's just the reverse of norm - you don't attach the heatsink to the mother board, you attach the mother board to the heatsink. With the Mugen2 on an H55M-UD2 you have enough vertical clearance for standard ram with no vertical heatsinks. Flush mounted heat s...

Scythe Setsugen photos and measurements

The Scythe Setsugen is turning out to be quite the remarkable cooler for me. It appears as though there is roughly 2.5" from the center of the GPU to the rear/ IO si...

One of the best features of the 3480 is the ability to fit any of the supercoolers. Most of the alternatives I've seen so far don't appear to have the capacity to handle these, based solely on the 80 and 92 mm fans rear fans. It looks like the Inwins might, though it's hard to tell if those are 120'...

Only if you are seeing the same problems on your system that's drawing less than 160W to the processor trying to manage a 5.8GHZ over-clock on liquid nitrogen.

Yeah, "dot pitch" was a bit of a misnomer. What I meant was something along the lines of matching pixel density, or more specifically, pixel size.

Calculate your actual pixel dimensions, then use those dimensions x 1920x1080 to get your new physical screen size.

I suspended my HDD in the lower bay.

I currently have a Scythe Mugen2 on a Gigabyte P55 motherboard - it fits either way without interference issues with the case, in fact it fits with clearance to spare. Around the RAM and/or the the top expansion slot is a different story though... :)

I highly recommend getting out a drill and a hole cutter and routing your cabling behind the motherboard tray. It makes life with the 3480 FAR easier than trying to live with it otherwise. There's enough space back there to tuck extra cables, route your wires or even hide an SSD or two.

After three days of an interference free inverted fan I turned the machine on this afternoon only to hear the horrible sound of fan on metal!

A couple of shims in the corners have taken up the remaining bit of space needed to prevent further contact.

Looks like 11" is the max card length - and that will butt you right up against the fan - if your PCIe plug comes off the back it won't fit.

Any ATX sized PSU will fit - the real question is how much space will there be between the PSU and optical drive.

I recently put a Scythe Setsugen on my Asus CuCore 5770. It idles at 33C and stabilizes at 61C in Furmark.
