What's the state of the airflow in your case? Namely, what case, fans, power supply are you using? Don't tell me you're using one of those 10 year old flimsy cases that's only way to remove hot air is through the power supply.

Most fanless power supplies can supply more power than they are rated, if they are kept cool enough, due to the fact they are usually under-rated to be able to stay cool enough fanless at their max load. If my memory serves correctly, I remember the silverstone rep posting that ST30NF was based off ...

You should add a "None of the above, I won't be upgrading this generation." People like me won't be upgrading for at least another year and at that time we'll be talking about quad-cores. Personally I think the market is going to look really good for buying a processor in about 3 months. By then the...

Most SPCRers consider 120mm fans at this speed to be far too loud. If noise isn't an issue go for it, otherwise I'd consider something else. For something like ...

I believe the 7900 GTX uses ~95W and the X1900XT uses ~125W. I remember reading this on a reliable site but I can't remember where. The 7900 series use much less heat and so run much cooler than the X1900 series so SPCRers generally go for them.

If that's not enough for ya then look at some of the enermax power supplies. They're probably the quietest you'll be able to find above 600W though they're certainly not in the...

It's a completely non-conductive liquid material stuff that's pourable down to ~-90C. You could build a case similar to those done with oil but run the whole thing through a watercooling loop or very low temp refrigeration system.

Something to try is to reseat your CPU, ram, graphics card and all your power and other connectors. Do the fans and the power light turn on? If they do then it's almost certainly a bad motherboard and you'll need to RMA it. If your fans twitch or only turn on for a second then it could be an issue w...

I don't know how well that simple circuit will work. If the initial pulse from the power supply very quickly goes from 0 to 12V then it should work great, but if it takes place over a something like a second then this won't work. I don't think there's a precise value of a capacitor that's needed for...

What are you using to measure the temperature? Reports given by speedfan etc. (and even the temperature given in BIOS) can be way off. Is the heatsink hot to the touch? With an XP-90 you'll be able to cool it with a decent fan, just don't expect silence. Might be worth it to go for a XP-90C just for that extra little bit of performance.

Re: Silent Video Card PciE

Assuming my memory holds correct the Radeon 1900XT draws 135W at max power and the 7900GT draws 90W. Makes the 7900GT much easier to quiet. Performance is almost equal so I would choose the 7900GT.

In real use most AC fans that you would ever think of putting in a computer can be undervolted. However this is not an easy task, some people have placed two fans in series (like you) for similar results. Note also that dimmer switches (rhetostats) do not undervolt in the conventional sense. Looking at the case it will only fit a 80mm fan on the back, though it will fit a regular power supply. Looks like it could make a decently quiet computer if you used low power components and you cut out the rear fan grill.

Your case looks far too nice on the outside for a celeron 433. You need to add some big scrates and dents, maybe a big hole with a fan grill over it leftover from some attempted ducting mod. Then break some plastic parts on the front, and take off the stickers and smear some dirt on the sticky spots.
