Bumping this a bit. Anyone recently have thoughts on the second version? beavis? I prefer the 9 blade ones, I think I've seen something in the reviews that match my experience as well, but I'm not certain Thank you for response. I just checked out the Amperage of the II version. It is a lot more am...

Re: Difference between Reserator 1 Plus & Reserator 1 V2
the reserator 1 and 2 are the same units aside from quick release hoses. This is a really great addition. it should be noted that the reserator tower was the BEST absolute BEST cooling option ever made. Add poland spring distilled water and Water Wetter. That's it. Nothing else. I poured a bunch of ...

Re: Need a GTX 970 recommendation.
ht4u has a nice review of the Palit with comparisons to Asus and MSI. tl;dr: Palit is slightly quieter than MSI and uses slightly less power at idle and load, better VRM temps, poorer at overclocking. I never seen Palit stuff in USA. Like ever. Seem to do be good buys for silent computing throughou...

Re: Overprovisioning - what the hell is it exactly
http://www.anandtech.com/show/8747/samsung-ssd-850-evo-review/4 yes that is a good article. Just about the only article to read on the subject. The 850 EVO 500 is a sweet spot for storage. The 1 TB though seems a bit more sensible as I dont like to have to balance data out on small drives. I will p...

Re: Overprovisioning - what the hell is it exactly
I have read that 850 EVO over 500 gigs has a longer MTBF and write life than a 2015 nicer end spinning hardrive. I think the pro is overkill and only for professional environments or some strange home use.
I wouldnt consider the pro anymore as a sensible option

yeah looks like might be an issue limiting the % of gpu. I wonder if i could just downclock the gpu to like half the mhz. I wouldnt want the fan spinning up a lot when i get my 970

Re: Interesting review of Intel vs AMD for gaming, Detailed.
does the SETI@home use the gpu much better? can it run regular SETI/astropulse analysis just as well?
Interesting if it could. I know that AMD's a great butthey are torches. Also, could I make the gpu work at lower %?

Re: Overprovisioning - what the hell is it exactly
Ah nice to know. So just throw the 1 TB 850 EVO in the computer and forget it then. I was wonder if the durability ratings were due to people having to set up their ssd's a certain way. I would hate to lose 100 GB of drive space for nothing. I would probably need a second drive much faster if i had ...

I am about to buy a 1 TB samsung EVO 850. It will be my only drive. I am wondering if there is anything I need to do to ensure durability in a regular home use setting.

Re: Does it make a rat's ass of a difference at 1440p?
Oh wow nice. So looks like a 6600k probably will be my best bet. I imagine there will be a 6800k one day for 380 dollars that will be 4.5 hz. always something like that happens. nice to know the I/O is so cranked and has lots of pci-e lanes I was thinking of getting the 5775C chip. Tech report have ...

Re: Does it make a rat's ass of a difference at 1440p?
OK, that makes a lot of sense. I use my CPU for three things: to game at 1440p graphics and to change formats on music formats and videos and also at times SETI@hom. Compressing a lot of stuff at times. I also do a lot of I/O tasks. I wonder if there is a better board and chip that handles things li...

I remember things like Power Angels. I think I need such a thing to see max draw on my PSU. I have too many oddball component combinations and I am unsure I will be approaching the max on my seasonic 460 fanless

Re: Interesting review of Intel vs AMD for gaming, Detailed.
What do you mean? Any modern OS can use more cores. HT is useful sometimes, but like extra cores it's dependent on the task. The i7 has HT, the i5 does not and the price premium you pay for the i7 only makes sense if you do lots of stuff where HT really helps. Lots of movie encoding? Consider the i...

Re: Interesting review of Intel vs AMD for gaming, Detailed.
"To Windows, each of the Core i7’s physical cores appears as two logical processors. The Core i5 doesn’t have this feature; its four cores work on four threads." Does this mean anything in windows 10? having separate processors for any advanced function? I should mention that I was given a strange b...

Re: Does it make a rat's ass of a difference at 1440p?
I was looking at dx12 benchmark on your tech report site. It was showing problems with more intel cores being activated. I wonder at times if things are written so poorly in games and in OS's that this sort of thing happens. It seems that nothing is optimized for anything aside from a few special in...

squishing music and videos sometimes, SETI @ home, some multi-core games. 1055T is 400mhz slower, makes a notable difference in most things. I have used a celeron like that. Really dont know what the guy was smoking. or what minimal crap he was doing. I cant imagine. I imagine there were more advanc...

Re: Does it make a rat's ass of a difference at 1440p?
AH!! i find it now! my 1090T is super similar to 1100T, so that is what I look for. looks like I have not that much to worry about at 1440p with high settings. It clearly does make a difference but not a huge one. it seems worth upgrading at some point this year. I wish amd would release Zen. darn. ...

Does it make a rat's ass of a difference at 1440p?
I have a very snazy 1440p 27" monitor. Does it make a rat's ass of a difference what cpu is use to get acceptable frame rates at high settings? I have been reading for months and cannot find a NON high end cpu benchmark that utilizes a GTX 970 card. Everyone shows them with 5775C or now the Skylake,...

wider the case the better. so much easier to work in. This looks like the case I would want. I am a big fan of the corsair higher end cases. I have one now and it is a joy to work on and made so strong and safe inside. The bigger the case, the easier it is to quiet. I have noticed lot lower temps in...

Re: Skylake thoughts
I wish they would make a 6 core no hyperthreading chip like 1090T was. I think the idea someone had of dx12 and the extra cores is a sound idea. the 91 watt TPD should be not super hard to quiet. I cant see the point in getting a 6700 non-k when the 6600 i5 standard just exists for fairly cheap. Eit...

Re: Z170 mATX mobos
I personally always use a physical bay fan controller and a good SNR rated audio card. I transport it from build to build. It gives me more options to be more technical in specs on the board, such as the latest revision of 3.1 (i see there are a few unfortunately already), that m2 slot, more full pc...

Re: Z170 mATX mobos
for me, the quality of the power and durability claims are most important as well as the ability to have full speed pci 3.0 slots. New pci-e SSD drives, all sorts of things one can put there for future. The other thing I demand on them is the new 3.1 USB slots. I am not sure the lower Asus models ha...
