I like the sugo case a lot for this actually. You guessed it..the Antec will be WAY too small for this application...don't even try. Your CPU fan would be spinnign so fast it would sound like a siren IMO. The Sugo case offers you something the antec doesnt....room. The only thing I'm 'scared' about ...

This ought to answer your question perfectly: http://www.silentpcreview.com/article959-page4.html Scroll down about halfway till you see the Zotac GEFORCE 9300 board Then read. IMO, i would stick with the stock heatsink that came with the e8400. I had it in my system for a little while and it really...

honestly, do you really need an i5 for this task? you could save a lot of money and make your life a whole lot easier if you go with a socket 775 platform.. something like this? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813500019&cm_re=zotac-_-13-500-019-_-Product it's got onboard graphi...

Re: Quiet Rack-Mount Audio PC

I'm going to cut a hole in the acrylic sheet directly over the CPU, converting the Noctua into a combination intake/CPU fan and eliminating the rear fan. Honestly, I can't recommend doing this. Unless you plan to also fasten a good filter to this hole, the direct intake that close to the CPU fan wi...

If you take the example you gave, note there are 2 intakes and 2 exhaust. Maybe they aren't the same size, and you have impedances like a filter..they are still in push/pull configuration. They do this because it's much more efficient than having fans only* in the back of the case. That's all I'm sa...

so you can tout the concept of neutral pressure all you want, but it's seldom achievable... Did I say it was achievable all the time? If* you have a case which filters the air, like the antec cases, having a 'neutral' pressure configuration is what one should strive for. Stive being the operative w...

what advantage would suspension give? For one, it secures the drive. Your current configuration means you have to be careful about the orientation of the case if you ever move it. Secondly, it will boost the airflow on that drive. Sitting on the case floor like that offers minimal airflow, which ar...

You're completely missing the point I made about hybrid sleep though. You're only resuming from hibernation if you cut A/C power; if not, you'll resume from standby as normal, which should take only a few seconds. You are correct about that..I did miss the point about the hybrid sleep. Honestly, I ...

all I'm saying is, there have been many* reported problems with resuming ASUS boards as it is the most stressful time on the motherboard. i think that it could be difficult and/or disadvantageous to use neutral pressure inside of a pc case, so positive/negative pressure are the only things left to argue about :) This is actually very wrong. People never talk about 'neutral' pressure because they are too busy talking about positive/ne...

baffling is usually unnecessary...the p180 and cases like it are designed to push and pull air, with a fans in the front, back and on top the reason they use a push-pull strategy, it is the most efficient way to change out the air in your case. you want cool air being sucked into the system (front f...

Good benchmarks & analysis. However, I missed an important area regarding these low-power CPUs: are they worth the extra money for the tweaker? For example, could SPCR's X4 630 undervolt/clock to match the 610e? Running in spec is essential for a lot of users, but this forum has a lot of hobbyists ...

The quick boot time of under 35 seconds (from power button press to actual usability at the desktop) made possible by the Intel SSD was nice to see, as well as the effective and quick sleep mode, where the minuscule 3.4W power draw makes powering the system off/on almost completely unnecessary. Yea...

I bet you anything I know what's causing it: your hard drives are creating a harmonic frequency that is intermittently vibrating your case's air cavity. This causes a "voooooommmm--vooooooommmm--" sound I had this same exact problem, and it was driving me insane. People who came into my room wouldn'...

I really don't give a hoot about airflow measurements because they're just distractions. That's really what it comes down to. is that 40C core? or CPU temp...cause there is a difference. The former is measured off of a thermistor inside the actual chip..versus the latter which is a sensor on the motherboard. If you're seeing 40C core..don't bother second guessing yourself..that is rediculously cool. If it's reading 40C CPU...

The best way to check this is by buying a cheap ground tester from your local hardware store. The other wa...

yes...you can actively overclock and reset the clock from an OS environment with Asus boards. I'm pretty sure gigabite allows that too...I much prefer to do it from the BIOS though.
