The $110 figure is from the only North American vendor I could have that listed it as an orderable item: NCIX . It's a special order item, and will probably remain at that price until (and if) it becomes readily available on this continent. Personally, I think $110 is pretty good when you consider ...

well internal combustion engine or not, the Seasonic Super Tornado fan gets noisier and noiser as the years go by, so I'm assuming that all horizontal sleeve-bearing 120mm fans have that same problem. Ball-bearing seems louder than sleeve-bearing, so that isn't an option either. I think the best opt...

If you have a good case like the P180, I don't see why you shouldn't go for a Phantom 350 instead. A 350 would be much better. The PSU doesn't even get that warm in a good case. The only problem I see is the PSU dumping heat into the CPU if they are close, and in the case of the P180, they are dista...

Try the peltier at low voltages, say 7 volts. At low voltages they are pretty efficient. At 14V their efficiency is only 5-8% which give them a bad rep. So at half voltage it would draw half the watts, right? Could something as easy as a Fan Mate handle the stepdown? Would it be okay to just take it...

I like their built-in toolbox to hold screwdrivers inside your computer. For that reason alone, I recommend this case! How about someone get the aircooled version of the case, and use the sidefins as the heatsink. Attach either heatpipes or a thermosyphon to the side of the case. Similar to the Zalm...

Their claim of 17 dBA is hard to beleive. Even if they used two Nexus, it would be 19 dBA. Also, the watercooling version has more fans than is needed, not good for silence. And do those fins actually do anything? Also, it doesn't have a moisture condenser, so you are forced to refill that tiny tank...

I'm with ~El~Jefe~ on this one. Yes, Phantom 350 will easily take that rig. I had a similar rig to that that one, with a 4GHz Prescott, 6800GT and 6 hard drives, and the Seasonic Super Tornado 300 took it just fine, with very stable voltages I might add. I doubt that computer even eats up 220W. Peop...

Re: Best hard drives??
HI, Just a few simple questions (I hope)... a) What is the fastest SATA II hard disk of 250+ GB? b) What is the quietest SATA II hard disk of 250+ GB? c) What is the best combination of the two? You do know, don't you, that "SATA II" won't give you any perceptible real-world advantage over "SATA I"...

If you have to add a fan to a passive GPU cooler, doesn't that defeat the purpose? Personally, I've used 3 different brands of fanless coolers for my nVidia 6800, and all of them push my temps past 100C before crashing. Only way to get those fanless to work is to get a lot of ventilation in the case...

Thanks for the link, but it says: "Much the way the system BIOS benefits from being in a changeable ROM chip that can be modified relatively easily, the hard disk's firmware does as well. In fact, in many drives the firmware can be updated under software control, very much the same way that a flash ...

I agree that you don't have any really good options. They are all loud. Heck, if you're sensitive to noise as I am, even the quietest 2.5" notebooks drives are pretty loud, and those are way more silent than the SPCR recommended 3.5" drives. The Spinpoints are hardly quieter than the newer Raptors. ...

Though I've never owned a Raptor, according to reports from SPCR its seeks are much louder than my WD Scorpio notebook drive and my Seagate Barracuda IV, which are both pretty damn loud even suspended. I don't know, but I'm really beginning to think its people's sensitivities that are often to blame...

DDC's tend to not start up sometimes. Get a CSP-MAG instead which is both quieter and stronger, not to mention cheaper and being something that actually works. Mod your Modstream PSU with a quieter fan as well. They were meant to be modded. As far as radiators go, you can either use 120.1 or 120.2, ...
