The high prices have driven food costs up all over the world. People ARE starving because of it and in greater numbers than before.

Then you won't mind walking off a cliff, will you? I've done it before. It can be a ton of fun but make sure you bring a parachute. Are you blaming corn-made ethanol for the food shortages? I think the droughts and floods have something to do with it, too. Droughts and floods are not preventable. B...

Yep, we are arguing two different points. Happens to me a lot. Yeah, developing countries are slow to react, and their populations are getting bigger, but there is also hope for many of them. The worst thing to happen to them in many years though is Biofuel. If I believed in conspiracy theories, I w...

I am about to order the 4850 with AC S1 and the turbo module. I've always had cards that exhaust out the back? Is this going to be too much for my 120mm rear fan at 5V to extract from the case?

I would be more afraid of another ice age. Rising sea levels are slow and only inundate property that is easily rebuilt. It does not kill.

Last I checked we don't have fur. Cold kills more than heat. I'm not really wanting to live on top of a mile and a half of ice covering New York City.

Large differences CAN be made by a collection of small changes. I am not saying that we shouldn't conserve at all but we should do so in a way that makes sense and not just jump on the bandwagon of green that is so often completely wrong. As for the argument that the rich are getting richer at the e...

Maybe we can sink trillions into creating food from oil and that could solve our hunger problem while reducing our carbon footprint from burning the stuff. :)

You don't need fanless to stay quiet. The stock 3850 is a good card and remains nearly inaudible at idle. At load it probably ramps up a bit but most have been very happy with it. There is a review of it on this site. Pretty much any card at $300 will need a fan.

I've run two 120mm Yate Loon fans off the same header for 2 years in the same computer. I don't think you will have a problem unless you go for Delta fans that spin at 4K

It'll do for sure, and I like the Celerons too since my 300A, but they are pretty crippled with only 512KB of cache on a cache dependant architecture. If Intel and cheap are your criteria it is a fine choice.

Sounds like you are all set on hardware and you did a great job picking it out, but what about the "silent" part. There is no mention of fans, power supplies, or harddrive soft mounting. Until you address those problems, you won't really have as quiet a computer as you could.

I tend to run my CPUs all the way to 60C before I get a tiny bit nervous. (not that any of my CPUs r...

Much of your perception of quiet is determined by your environment. I had an office computer with a Zalman flower at 7V (not a very quiet machine in my house) that was totally inaudible in the office because I was near a street with some traffic. If you live in the middle of rural Canada in a concre...
