I have a Straight Power E9 and it's really quiet, I can never hear it. The Straight Power 10 is supposed to be a little better than that, for only £10 more get the Straight Power.

The fans that come with the Noctua NH-U12P SE2 have a 3-pin connector. Can you control the fan speed when you plug plug them into your mainboard?

The case looks a lot like the Silverstone "Steam Machine" cases SilverStone Raven Z and Milo ML07. The mounting option for the graphics card radiator seems to be the main difference. The CPU cooler looks interesting. Looks like an Asetek unit with a small radiator and radial fan very suitable for a ...

Loose the hard drive trays, connect the drives with SATA power+data extension cables and suspend the drives with elastic cord.

To sum up: Will the mITX build with a Coolermaster Elite 130 case be silent (relatively) or should i stick with a more designated silent case build? With a less noisy hard drive and with the included fans running at 7V the system should run quiet, not silent, by the standards of this site. And shou...

AIO for HTPC (140mm)
I want to build a HTPC with limited cooling height. Space is very limited overall, the only spot to put the radiator and pump are directly above the CPU area.
What is the minimum height to install a NZXT Kraken X41 or Corsair H90 when the radiator and fan sits directly on top of the pump?

I don't think Baytrail supports 4k via HDMI or DP. Heck, 4k is funky with Haswell. I think it's limited to 30Hz via HDMI (60Hz with Displayport 1.2)....good luck finding a 4k TV that has DisplayPort. So, anything you build now will need to be updated when you do pop for a 4k TV. Besides, you'll wan...

Measure the fan to find out if it's a standard part.
If It is, replace it with an appropriate PWM fan from Scythe, Noctua or the like.

Lots and lots of plastic. The worst front panel between the Tj08 PS07 and this.
I plan to buy a pre-dampened variant by Caseking. The case has previously been presented at Computex 2014. I Hope I don't have to wait too long for a release.

Re: Low noise low heat all in one htpc (with emulators)
Streaming in HD and playback of full HD content (with 3D) should work, 4K is out. More demanding emulators like Dolphin won't run either.
The system should be ok for the workload you describe, but there is no headroom. If you want more you'll have to replace the MB and CPU.

SFX-L power supplies: modular SFX with a 12cm fan
Silverstone just announced the SX500-LG . It's a fully modular unit with two 6/8 pcie connectors and it's 80+ gold certified. SFX-L is longer than SFX 125mm vs. 100mm, it should still fit a lot of small cases. Chieftec released their 500W 80+ gold unit a while back, which looks (surprisingly?) simil...
