This would definitiely be an improvement and make the numbers more in line with actual results. Um. I decided not to include cooling as part of the measurement because: 1. Variable quality of HS mounting (775 push-pins etc). 2. IHSs and HS bottoms that aren't flat. 3. variable quality of thermal co...

Re: A new idea on fan stacking (I think)
Slip Streams have low pressure (small motor=low torque). so that leaves the S-Flex's, correct? "small motor=low torque" is only true for constant power input. It's easy to put more power into a fan hub, so "small hub = low pressure" just ain't so. The SFLex fans are in fact high-pitch (just not as ...

Fin spacing is a little tight... Fin spacing?? Look, the cooling grid is 140mm wide. There are 6ea 6mm heat-pipes that double back, meaning 12 heat-pipes total. The pic reveals that these are side-by side. 12ea 6mm heat-pipes is 72mm total, leaving only 68mm (less than 50%) air space side-to-side, ...

The A-C site has a link to a small PDF spec sheet. On the spec sheet's upper right, there's a photo that reveals some details of why the HSF is only 131mm high with a "120mm" fan. It seems the 120mm fan has had its outer case removed. Such fans are often referred to as "110mm fans" even though the b...

The new Arctic Cooling Freezer Extreme HSF good for AMD!
Uses the AC 120mm PWM fan, 1500RPM max. Total height only 131mm for a tower HSF with a 120mm fan! Like the Scythe Mine, it sandwiches the fan between two fin grids. Dimensions 100mm x 130mm x 131mm. Madshrimps review here , with links to the Arctic Cooling page. That page in turn links a ~900K PDF i...

Now reviewed by FrostyTech, showing excellent performance both for cooling and noise. What really interests me is that the HSF can be mounted in any 90 degree direction on an AMD board - something that the Xigmatek 1283 can't do.

No this is in a regular 3 pin header on the motherboard. I'm wondering if the header isn't supplying 12V to the fan, its almost like the fan is running at 5V. Their is a 4 pin pwm header on the motherboard, 2 actually that I could try and see. Plug your 3-pin fan into one of the two 4-pin mobo head...

A Zerotherm 120mm HSF with a standard fan (or two)!
Zerotherm is well known as a butterfly HSF maker that uses proprietary fans. It has finally broken that mold; a new 120mm HSF (Zen FZ120) is distinctly non-butterfly and uses standard 120mm fans (1 or 2): see here . edit: The German site Hartware has already reviewed it; results here . edit2: added ...

So out of those, which would you recommend to be the best 120mm fan for heatsinks with tightly spaced fins? The Yate and GW NCB? No-spin fan current draw is highly variable, depending on the fan. Fans that use the simplest, oldest, cheapest drive ICs have no overcurrent protection, and can burn up because the IC is tiny, the same shape factor as cheapo 3-lead plastic transistors (not power transistors). In these ICs, the hub ...

I suppose the bigger the fan the better, since the hub can stay at a similarly small size. However, it also means there is less air-pressure as this is related to the rpms (if I read correctly somewhere around here). For a given fan, the pressure is proportional to the RPM squared. Double the RPM, ...

I really don't know if it will work. I am not sure how the signal is sent down the 3rd wire, i.e. if it is pulse/time based, or if it is wattage based. If the signal is simply pulse based, then a simply Y splitter will work. If it is voltage based, well, when you split the wire with a Y splitter, y...
