It does get really hot here some days and I don't have air conditioning. However, I just found out that my Asus M3A-78 EMH is a bad motherboard. I suspected, but wasn't sure. It has a poorly written BIOS and the southbridge heatsink is too small, so it overheats and causes problems. Therefore, the f...

Look at my sig. DO NOT ever, ever buy an Asus M3A-78 EMH HDMI. It's a bad motherboard. It has a poorly written BIOS, which cases CPU overheat and thermal throtling problems with some CPUs ( Athlon X2 5xxx, 6xxx and Phenoms). It also has a very small southbridge (SB700) heatsink, which is causing sev...

Thank you all for answering my questions. I've learned a lot. I finally got round to experimenting a bit and this is what I found: 1) only Tricool top+rear fans on low (1200 rpm) -- insuficient cooling. CPU and MB temps rise slowly at idle. Cannot handle full load. 2) Tricool top+rear fans on low + ...

I also have a brand new stock P182, fans running on low most of the time, and a Corsair TX-650 PSU. The TX-650 is the most silent component in my PC. Check if the top panel of your P182 is vibrating. Mine, when the top fan is running, even on low, the top panel vibrates and make an annoying humming ...

@cmthomson: mounting a second intake in the 5.25'' drive bays is a good idea. Hadn't thought of that. Unfortunately, without a middle fan my motherboard overheats and the network controller stops working. The P182 seems to acumulate hot air in the graphics card area. My motherboard has crap heatsin...

Air flow balance: should intake and exhaust flow be equal?

I've bought an Antec P182 case. I've also mounted a middle fan in the case. All fans output about 40 CFM. As I have two 40 CFM exhaust fans, should I to use a 80 CFM intake fan to balance the flow? 80=40+40? Since I have a 40 CFM fan for intake, doesn't it block and slow down the airflow of the two ...

That's exactly it. The top panel vibrates. When I put my hand on it and apply some pressure, the hum goes away. Thank you for confirming it's that way by design. A least I don't have to waste time trying to swap my P182 for a good one, since they are all like that. Would replacing the top fan with a...

My new Antec P182 case hums. Is this normal?

Hi. Following advice on SPCR, I bought an Antec P182 case. I just finished building the PC and I am a bit disheartened. The top fan vibrates the case and the case make a noticeble hum. Is this normal? Did I do something wrong? I've disconnected the top fan molex and the case no longer hums, but I wa...
