To start it'll be running 2 drives, an 80gb and a 250gb drives. Eventually I'll filling all the drive space I can i.e. I'll probably end up with 4x500gb drives or as many as the case can handle. I'll defenitly not get the T2 then, as my last case resonated loads and anoyed the hell out of me. I'll t...

brilliant thanks for the reply. I don't think I'll neeed that much power hence looking seriously at the C7 motherboards. The only gripe I have about the Pico PSU is the ammount of molex connectors. As I would want to run more than 2 HDDs of the system. Is there a way round this? Also I was going to ...

C7 vs. AMD based server, power usage?
I'm looking for a low powered machine to sit in the corner and store and download, so it doesn't need ot be very powerful. I was thinking something C7 based but, is it worth the investment? I've already got an AMD system that sort of does this but without the capacity I need. It is also way to loud ...

At least according to specs, Antec Neo HE 550W is capable of producing about 42A to its three 12V rails simultaneously, so that 36A is not that "whopping". Using only two rails it would be that 36A, since it is 18A each. Just as a side note. To put it in another way, Antec Neo HE is capable of prod...

VIA C7 based system, which case?
I've been thinking of a C7 based NAS/media PC for a while now and have eventually found some where that sells it here The boards got conectivity for 4x PATA HDDs and 2x SATA HDDs Soooo... can anyone suggest a suitable case for this motherboard? Do you think it'll sit nicely in a P150 or a T2? Also h...

have you still got the standard fan included with the case in place? 46Degrees seems a little high but nothing really to worry about. Interesting how the HDDs temps are 11 degrees different. If you've already got the standard fan in there it shouldn't be too much to worry about. From what I recall w...

Getting to the bottom of this fan noise
I've been trying to undervolt a Scythe s-flex (the one that comes with the ninja plus) with an Areocool CoolPanel2 However when undevolting I get a high pitched bussing noise ocming from the fan which changes pitch with each different voltage. I was wondering if it has something to do with the fan c...

Yeah I;ve seen it pop up now and again. People saying they wouldn't mind some sort of standards. I think I recall some motherboard or case that had a connector block that you put all your wires into before the motherboard connectors. Making it easier, as you dont have to fiddle about trying to guess...

That's not really possible. If you have read our review of the Ninja, you'll know that the Ninja was not capable of cooling our test processor passively on an open bench. I would not expect the Ultra-120 to be any different. why not test inside a case and get some real-world results:) with a single...

Is the power button hooked to the right pins? This, in my opinion, has nothing to do with thermal goop. I thought it was, I read and re-read the manual 3 times. Still I got that bit wrong! dammit. Sorry to bother everyone! I can say however the ninja is running fanless with idle temps of... 46Degre...

Not sure where I read it, but IIRC, there were some reports that the backplate of the Ninja was shorting some mobos out, resulting in a failure to boot. Insulating the backplate from the mobo turned out to be a solution. I take it you have tried clearing CMOS? OK, I'm going to try and use the origi...

thanks for the response. The cpu is an AMD 4600+. I've left the thermal pad on there and added some thermal compound (the sutff that came with the heatsink). I now can't get it to boot. I must be missing something really silly. at the moment it's not powering up even for a second like my last rig. I...

Sorted:: Motherboard wont post / power up
I'm installing my Scythe Ninja as I speak, however yesterday (long story) i put an Akasa thermal pad on it.
Would it be best to remove the pad and just place thermal compound on it? As it does not cover the entirity of the metal on the CPU.
Thanks,
Dan

ah thanks for the reply nomoon, some useful info there. I may try the top ducting myself. though I'm probably going to leave the VGA duct out as I'm pretty sure the video will get in the way and the VGA card pulls all it's air from below the VGA duct anyway so at a guess it's going to be useless. Pl...

SP0812N Motor question
Hey everyone
I've come accross a few references to the SP80's having two different motors, how can you tell which motor is in them and what are the differences in the motors?
Cheers,
Dan

nah the scythe wouldn't fix so I've been using the old heat sink. I just tried an old cpu (2200+) and that doesn't even want to turn on. So guess that's dead then. haha yeah. Something weird is happening now. If I keep the reset switch pressed it doesn't turn off again!?!?
