Update I bought me some coolers and fan controller. - Xigmatek HDT-S1283 (Ninja 2 is butt ugly, mugen has those ugly things covering the heatpipes so this was the choice). - Thermalright Bolt Thru kit to bolt my cooler onto the motherboard so the board wont bend. - Accelero S1 because my passive co...

Use a GT for rads. They have higher back pressure so they will perform better when there's a airflow restricton (such as a Rad).

Do you have case fan headers on your mobo. And do they support q-fan? Connect your heatsink on such a header and enable q-fan.

I think thats the most easy solution.

I suggest you get some normal standoffs. Just drill a hole, glue the standoff onto the alu surface and use a M3 nut on the back side.

Plastic standoffs are a PITA to work with. Seriously.

I wouldtn do it.

The airflow is coming from the side, so its not natural airflow. All components are made for front to back airflow.

thanks for the quick reply guys. I thought about wiring the switch with the negative or positive leads but i don't think it would matter, especially with DC. I am considering the fact that a 4-pin molex has 12V and 5V, which is why i would use a double pole switch. Thanks for the link CES, but sinc...

Re: scratchbuilding a case

Been looking at the various mATX case options out there, and I really like the Antec 3480, but it isnt quite right - theres things I want from it that I cant mod into it. Other cases kind of have some appeal, but they all look so ugly - the aesthetic of the contemporary gamer is for fins and wings ...

Well its possible. BUT: The HDD can only be powered on/off before booting up the pc. About the switches, its the most easiest one to switch grounds. When your hdd is powered on the switch connects the grounds and when the hdd is off you just disconnect the grounds by switching the switch off. Srry i...

Antec Performance One + Kaze Master Ace

I was wondering if you can mount a Scythe 5,25" fan controller in a Performance one series case. Because the controller is not deep at all.

How secure is the fit?

Maybe it could fit with a Minja?
It would. Youre better off if you take a spitfire with a top-down CPU cooler.

I wonder how those coolers will mount if you're in a CrossFire situation.

Sorry, liquid cooling is not something I'm comfortable using. I do appreciate the suggestion though. Grump Not to disrespect your opinion but the H50 is a sealed system and tested by Corsair for leaks? Why would you be unconfortable with that? Also corsair probably would use a non-conductive liquid?

Well, i would do a front to back airflow. Why? Because the GPU gets more airflow then most probably.

Also the CPU will benefit of that because the fan pushes the air through the heatsink instead of pulling it through.

Re: more time to play this weekend

I will take some time to investigate exactly where the noise is coming from this weekend. It does sound like fan noise to me - but we'll see. And I realized I made a mistake - I have not tried stopping to 200mm fan. Only the 120mm one - and that was the one that made no difference. Most likely you ...

The mugen 2 should do nicely and will probably be cheaper than a ninja all things considered. I was very impressed with how quiet it was on my stock q6600, the included pwm fan is really good. I'm not sure what rpm's it was running under load at stock speeds as it's been overclocked and running fol...
