LOL.. Silence is hard enough at 25C - 27C ambient temp.. I would hate to try at 40C.. :)
Voted for fixed speed, but it's very hard in summer :)

Re: Good airflow or "soundproof" case ?

What would be more silent , a case with good airflow like Thermatake M5 with some Nexus Real Silent fans, considering the PSU and CPU fans would have to work slower or a noise reduction oriented case like CM Sileo 500 ? PS : I can't buy expensive cases like Solo or P1xx. Also I haven't chosen CPU h...

This is my second 625 Modu82+ in a year, the first I had to send back because the fan ended up making loud clicking sounds, if I had to describe it, it would sound like the noise a HD makes when seeking, except louder. The replacement they sent me is now doing the same thing, so I am done with Ener...

A mini-review from an italian friend on PCSilenzioso.it, the italian site for our quest for silence: http://www.pcsilenzioso.it/forum/showth ... post132528

It seems Samsung EcogreenF2 is more silent under idle, but the AADS have a better noise in reading/writing than Ecogreen F2.

For some years the summer has been warm and torrid. Last year, in some cities, it was forty degrees! Perhaps one day in Italy we can see crocodiles in rivers  I think ascl is right, lower RDS mosfets are heat tolerant, but at this point i think top-down cooler is a good idea. In your opinion is it important have a Q9400s instead of a Q9400? A TDP of 65W vs. 95W do the difference to call it greener?
