Re: HDPLEX H3.SODD Fanless Mini-ITX Media Case
Sadly not my cup of tea because I actually like low rpm fans for their cooling properties Very nice, however should I be concerned about motherboard VRM and chipset cooling with this case? You can always cut a 120mm hole on the top and mount a slow dowdraft fan externally. Actually perhaps two such...

Re: Help with quiet, low power games / htpc machine
I'd guess a Llano quad core might be the best bet, especially if it's low power using only 1 or 2 cores. Llano seems like an insanely good chip for htpcs considering it combines basically a Radeon 5670 with 32nm Athlon/Phenom II cores. Anyways we'll see for sure in a few weeks it seems

Re: Any Fanless AMD systems??
Most logical thing to me is clear. Wait for Llano 32nm chips. Should blow anything else out of the water in terms of making it easy to be fanless on amd side.

Re: HDPLEX H3.SODD Fanless Mini-ITX Media Case
Looks like an almost perfect case for fanless htpcs. Sadly not my cup of tea because I actually like low rpm fans for their cooling properties, although this almost makes me want to reconsider that. Definitely something I will recommend to anyone who wants a truly fanless and tiny system though. Als...

Re: Asus P8H67-I Deluxe Mini-ITX Motherboard
Looks like a winner, now to hope the non-deluxe comes out soon, because that's definitely my pick. I like the fact this board actually supplies proper cpu voltage and has good bios functionality. Unless Zotac improves their bios and the weird board quirks such as voltage, they're always going to be ...

Re: H67, mini-ITX, 6+ SATA ??
Yes, it should work: An m-ITX with 6 SATA ports and a 2P SATA controller like HighPoint Rocket 620 (low profile and works with Linux) gives enough ports, and there's room in the PC-Q08 for the drives. Cooling: With the CPU cooler at 1300 rpm, stock case fans at half speed with Zalman Fanmate and 10...

Re: H67, mini-ITX, 6+ SATA ??
Ok now there's one major question. What the heck case are you gonna use that's small enough for mini-itx to make sense plus use 8 sata ports??? It seems pretty illogical to go mini-itx with 8 devices. At that point microatx makes far more sense. I think there is only one such case, the LIAN LI PC-Q...

Re: H67, mini-ITX, 6+ SATA ??
Seemed a bit too much to open a new post for this: The Asus P8H67-I rev 3 (non-deluxe) mentioned here seems very interesting for a HTPC/fileserver (6xSATA, digital audio out), does anyone have any idea/data on the power usage? especially compared to the Intel DH67CF (B3)? Thanks! Except one problem...

Omg I'm so mad, was out hanging out with friends and the ISK300-65 was on amazon for freaking $33. Best deal ever, and not there for it. I am extremely disappointed. :/ That woulda been worth buying 2 or 3 even.

of course it's not the fastest card, but i'll challenge you to find one that is half-height low profile card, single slot brackets, not longer than the mini-ITX mobo, that will be able to share the 150w PSU with the i7 CPU, and also give good frame rates in the game. after lots and lots of digging ...

Re: How many watts do you really need these days?
These days? Nothing has changed recently. Peak power has plateaued, but not decreased. Maybe idle power is a little lower. HDs aren't major power hogs in modern systems so SSDs don't change anything. But using an integrated GPU uses a lot less power and what has changed recently is that there is ve...

Re: small, quiet mini-ITX gaming build
Or the 6670, which is probably still a decent amount slower than the 5750, but still should be pretty good and more power efficient. That's what I plan to use personally for my htpc/lan box once the price drops to around $70

Re: Currently available (2011) really worthy mini-ITX enclos
That's a bit iffy since I read the FSP 150 has a 40mm fan, unless that fan spins really slowly or rarely comes on, it would be a risk. I`m using a Seasonic psu with the same form factor, the ss 250u (and if I remember right, the OP does too) which also comes with a 40mm fan. It stays quiet even at ...

Re: Currently available (2011) really worthy mini-ITX enclos
I do kind of like the Lian Li PC-Q09, but the price is definitely wrong. It actually costs more than the PC-Q08B, which is ridiculous since one's a tiny case that holds very little. The Q09F includes a very nice FSP 150 watt power supply. If you like Red, Newegg has been selling them for $99 (I thi...

Re: Currently available (2011) really worthy mini-ITX enclos
I'm actually building 2 mini-itx systems, one of which needs to be as small as possible, and one of which is 98% likely to be a Q08b so that there's space for 6 drives. So two different directions for two different purposes. Got the same processor (Core i3-2100) for both systems and a set of hard dr...

Re: Currently available (2011) really worthy mini-ITX enclos
I'm looking for a good Mini-itx case to house a sandy bridge Core I3-2100 with mini-itx htpc myself, the Antec ISK-300/310-150 would be perfect except the rather poor psu and I'd prefer not to go picopsu if possible. Hmm, this was a board I was hoping would somehow have better power consumption, but obviously it has the same issues with previous zotac boards. That's too bad, because I would have gladly wanted it otherwise. Plus it's definitely pricey at $150. The non-deluxe asus mini-itx might be more interestin...

UPS modding for coil whine?
There's a lot of discussion of modding psus for various reasons and I've heard some talk of using possibly glues for fixing coil whine as well, but I'm guessing a ups would be a lot trickier. I've got an APC SmartUps 1000 that works great except it has a lot of whine(quite a bit louder than my compu...

Well with a review by HardOCP also. I think it's clear this unit probably beats the X-series in noise along with being more efficient. Killer stuff. I'd say it's the best psu for any single gpu system bar none right now if price is no object.

Uh it's actually bigger than standard, not smaller. Normal dimensions would be 5.9 X 5.7 X 3.4" Honestly it doesn't matter, most cases can accommodate up to 6.3" depths easily. If you start getting bigger, it'll tougher to fit. I said mass produced machines. Like HP, Compaq, Dell, Emachines, Acer.....

Is there a way to tell if a 650TX is made by Seasonic based on the serial number or something like that? I'm getting one from Amazon next week and reading this thread is freaking me out... Sure, if it doesn't have an appended C, it should be Seasonic. Also there's a second revision of the tx series...

The 980x/990x is idiotic to purchase imho for 99% of users just because it's far more expensive, far more power hungry, and on a much more expensive platform. Sandy bridge really blows everything out of the water efficiency and speed-wise. I can't see anything else getting recommended unless bulldoz...

Hmm your graphical analysis seems reasonably sound from what I can see assuming things work as you'd expect, but unfortunately I'm nowhere near an expert in how to measure sound and what actually is the main cause of noise in the first place. I'm also wondering if there's some sort of relative minim...
