The 800 RPM S-flexes have a tendency to stall when undervolted, so I'd go with the 1000rpm model for that matter.

As for sound on the 800RPM models: very quiet. I can hear some whirring and a soft bass-drone when I place my ear next to the fans. Most sound will come from turbulence.

I don't own an AXP-140, but it has a rather large fin surface and lots of heatpipes, so it should work pretty well with a 400mm fan/jet. (Ofcourse, that's just by looking, we'll need some extensive testing to find out how powerful it really is.)

As for the molexes: that is correctly aligned.

Well, maybe. A CPU just isn't supposed to run 70° C under load, I think. If you have a good article that tells me more about CPU heat, I'd be happy to read it. I'll try another test with the CPU cooled "passively" later this day. Both fans will be exhausting through the ceiling. I removed the first...

I'm more interested in the size of the motor that powers this fan. Those big blades need quite some power to rotate, and it might stall if you're trying to undervolt it.
Anyway, this thing is a very efficiënt cooler when combined with an AXP-140. :D

The design of the whole rig is pretty hot, but I find it rather stupid that the whole machine is dipped in oil and STILL needs water cooling... The only thing that the oil really cools are the RAM modules and the south bridge. All the other parts are overclocked so far that they need liquid cooling ...

I did a stresstest with Realtemp V3 an prime95, and the results were the same: http://img87.imageshack.us/img87/2269/hawtmq2.png Got around 62 degrees in a 5 minute burn-in. The temperature wasn't stable, then. As for my rig: http://img144.imageshack.us/img144/3509/boxshotdt8.th.jpg This is a pictur...

Well, I did some testing yesterday with my processor: ran prime95 on both cores for about 30 minutes, and that caused my temperatures to go up all the way to 67 degrees centigrade. (northbridge got hot too, 53 degrees) I think I've used too much Artic silver 5, because my 65W processor can't get thi...

I'm just throwing this idea into the group, but why not use a 200mm fan or so on the side-panel and use it as a source for negative pressure? Place a top-down CPU-cooler directly beneath it and block any airhole so that the air flows into the case through the PSU, the videocard and your harddisks. Y...

Well, I guess it didn't come with a protective film, then. Right now, my E6750 runs at 45°C when doing minor tasks. There's an 800-rpm S-flex blowing air through the HR-01, and I don't think the temperatures are as they should be. When under high load (playing fallout 3 with lots of effects) the CP...

What sticky film on my HR-01?

Goodday, I've installed my HR-01 plus into my case two weeks ago, and now a scary thought emerges. Does the heatsink come with a small plastic film on the base when it is shipped? I haven't removed any when I installed the heatsink, and now I fear it is interfering with my cooling paste.... Err, can...

I haven't removed the honeycomb grating yet, but that might cause the sound now the air can move directly at it. I'll test the idea by running the fans without the top cover on. I've noticed that the HR-01 reacts rather fast to CPU stress. When it's busy calculating something big, the temperature ri...

I've installed everyhing in my case, and the HR-01 is keeping my CPU passively around 45 degrees with light load (music and internet). I've cut open the metal grating on the top and installed the fans on rubber grommets. This caused the air that flowed through the grating to create a howling sound. ...

Sorry all, but I can't post the picture of my current setup. The camera is fried. :/

So you turn on all your fans when you're doing CPU intensive tasks?

Anyway, which of the two setups do you think is best for my PC?

I've got a CM690 that needs improvement!

Hello to you all on SPCR. :) First of all, I'd like to thank Mike and the rest of the forumers for working on such a wonderful website as this one is. I've come to this forum with a rather difficult question: I've got a fairly quiet computer, but I want to make it even more silent. To do this, I nee...
