Yess now you can cook a T-bone on your computer :o I love these cards, what I usually do is strap a 92mm Nexus @5V right on the heatsink and you get wonderful temps with almost no noise at all. These are great way for non technical ppl that are normally afraid of disassembling their cards to get gr...

Thanks Mike great review, glad you change your mind about this fanless baby! Great efficiency for an office build, the x-650 was an overkill for my needs. I wonder where is the best place to put it: at the bottom like in p180's or on top with a hole on the case :?: On top of course, heat rises, and...

I would go with http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835191005 since I know think that Evercool fan specs are bullsh*t. Think about it, SilenX fan specs call for 18 CFM@2000 RPM while Evercool calls for 31.62 CFM@2300 RPM. It is impossible to gain almost 50% more airflow with only 1...

Could anybody give me an idea of what type of system you can run with a 400W PSU like this? E.g. could you run a quad core a single high end gfx card (perhaps not a fermi) and a 2-3 drives with it? Sure could, even with a Fermi. As a rough estimate, you could say up to 120W for the CPU/mobo/RAM and...

Nope that's not what i think at all but more along the line: more amps = more noise as fumino said that is wrong too. amps tells about how much current fan motor needs, it has absolutely nothing to do with noise at all. Jyuni seem to be sleeve bearing, so probably not suitable for horizontal mounti...

Re: Interesting new specifications R3 vs R2
I find very little need for a separated PSU since in this case PSU draws fresh, cool air from it's own intake on the bottom.marcus_helsinki wrote: But, still there is no separate chamber for the PSU. Of course, if components and the PSU are rather cold anyway, this may not have a very large effect on temperatures.

0.41 A for the slipstream !? Are they even serious to recommend such a fan ? For a gaming, ultra performing system maybe but for a random computer i doubt it, let alone a htpc. I just changed my psu fan today cause i found it noisy and i made some tests, it indeed was noisy, not only whining but al...

Define R3 specs and info out.
Fractal Design (same guys that made Define R2 ) have released info about Define R3. Basically a improved R2 and it looks really interesting. http://www.fractal-design.com/img_thumb/FD-CA-DEF-R3-TI_1_medium.jpg Titanium Grey http://www.fractal-design.com/img_thumb/FD-CA-DEF-R3-WH_3_medium.jpg Arctic ...

Without restarting windows (or whatever OS it has) this will be difficult unless the drive is set up on the motherboard as a device that can be removed. If you can remove the device, yes, you can power it on/off whenever needed to save power. If you can't "safely eject" the hardware, then it will n...

that tiny 40mm HD fan should be shot to pieces. and 3 intakes and nothing pulling hot air out ? They just reversed rear fan to suck air in instead of blowing it out (like it does in other cases) and they call it "new cooling technology".. And what's with the 90s looks ? Tough crowd at SPCR sheesh.... Although Air filter suggestions reminds me, could we use speaker grill covering cloth as a filter? Would make good filter for the BIG dust particles. 640GB on one side of a platter is some pretty incredible density. Wonder if there's anything stopping them from achieving that density on both sides and shipping a drive with ~1.25TB/platter. 5TB 4-platter drive anyone? Each side of the platter does not have 640GB, that's the total density ...

Samsung coming with Spinpoint F4 drives
Well samsung have finally launched their F4 drives. Capacity is 320GB, SpinPoint F4 features a single 640 GB platter used on just one side and therefore with just one read head.. Performance should be 10% better then current F3 drives due to higher data density. Interesting is that they cut cache to...

I'm a little surprised now: are you saying that, all things considered, the system will be quieter using air cooling - maybe like the R2 plus an after-market CPU cooler and a that Sapphire Vapor-X version of the 5770? I though WC would get me lower noise. Yes, that is exactly my point. Decent CPU c...

next year will bring socket 1155, one pin less then current 1156 and these 2 will not be compatible nor are the CPUs. Current CPUs will not work in s1155 boards and vice versa. there are no "future proof" computers. If you want to be able to uppgrade in 1-2 years there is only one intel socket to go...
