I don't ever remember anyone ever claiming that the government of Iraq was responsible for 9-11. It was a co-ordinated attack by a bunch of people who share a common religion that uses terrorism to advance it's causes. They do not come from a single country...you know that, everybody knows that. Ou...

According to the LAME usage guide , straight stereo is going to be the default for bitrates above 128 and VBR_q <=4. That said, it is probably pointless to specify but I figured since I was writing the CLI options anyway I might as well specify everything. Also, I did test the file sizes with and w...

The only real hiccup has been the fact that it seems to incorrectly pass compression settings to LAME. I am working on writing the command-line switches manually - should fix the issue. Has anyone else had this issue? If so, I would love to see your command-line settings for comparison. PS: In case...

I'd go with the 3007, if you can get it for a good price and you don't need the extra inputs provided in the 3008. There have been various issues which have dogged the 3008 since its release - backlight bleed, poor build quality, input lag caused by the built-in scaler (important if you're a gamer),...

Nice to see a top performing cooler that's optimized for low airflow and doesn't weigh as much as a small asteroid, but there's one small point that could perhaps be clarified: "Compared to the Ultra-120/eXtreme, the HR-01 Plus is narrower, slightly taller , and has much greater spacing between the ...

I'm not a fan of the holes in the front door either, but I definitely see this as a response to all the crying and whining about the P180's poor airflow. Yes, there's been a fair amount of "crying and whining" as you so charmingly put it, but it happens to be justified in some circumstances. I stil...

P183,P193,NineHundred2 seems to have been announced simultaneously with Skeleton. http://day8ge.blog15.fc2.com/blog-entry-615.html Nice catch, but what a shame to see the mini-P182's carbuncles transplanted to the full-size model. I didn't even take off the mobo to verify pins as I like to live dangerously, but it's certainly easy making sure the pins go all the way through: just push the top completely down, twist and let the spring back up. It just can't go wrong if the pins are not damaged and you study the right locking ...

I think one of the big shelf-type coolers from Scythe, Thermalright, Enzotech etc would be well placed to receive airflow from the top fan, *if* (and it's a big if) they would physically fit... it's a bit hard to tell from the photos. The fins would also be aligned properly for convection purposes, ...

I think it's quite interesting - with onboard graphics or a passive video card, and an efficient top-down CPU cooler (if it will fit), you'd only need a single fan in the top mounting. With air blowing down and washing outwards in all directions, over a relatively small uATX board, I reckon cooling ...

Thankfully, English has become at least the second language for many/most people. There's a review right here - it was a few years ago, but I guess the case is the same now as it was then (apart from the window).
Not bad if you like that sort of thing, but if quietness is a priority there are better choices to use as a starting point.

Re: Q9300 cores idle 45-48c
Any ideas? Do I need more airflow? I'd hate to get a monster heatsink because of the small P150 case and my PSU is right next to the motherboard. The fact that your idle temps have actually increased noticeably (assuming your ambient temps haven't gone up) suggests to me that the heatsink has shift...

I'm not sure the MBR (or lack of) was really the issue - I'm guessing the original RAID controller wrote "something" to each drive at a lower level than the partition table in order to create the array, and it was that "something" that prevented Windows from recognising it as a readable single drive...

Uhm, no, you can take a drive out and do whatever you want with it. It's exactly like a normal drive - in fact, you can probably even boot from it (might depend on the controller that was used on the original system and if the drive was master or slave in the array). That's the whole point of RAID-...

Yes, I agree with the above, the F1 is neither as cool nor as quiet as the GP and its extra speed won't be that much of a benefit for your purposes.
