Scythe is like Bose, they are most impressed with themselves. I've had better results with Scythe than I have with any other brand... I got rid of a TRUE for a Ninja2 and I'm happier with the Scythe. As for the Ninja VGA cooler... DAMN it's huge. I've been perfectly happy with my AC S1, but that sm...

External? There aren't any external cages in the case. You'd have to be creative to fit 3 HDD's with an optical drive.

I'm sure you can put a PSU in with a 120-140mm fan facing upward. There is some space and there are vents up top.

I just reversed the flow of the upper fans to be exhaust, taped off most of that side and everthing seems to run cooler around the CPU and RAM. I'm going to do some more testing and then complete the build when my Dynamat comes in. I'm thinking of adding a fan controller for him...

I'm not sure why you're suggesting a slim fan for the HDD. The current one is pretty dang quiet.

The video card is pretty light. The cooler is a Zalman and it's pretty much all aluminum, so it's not adding much weight. It came stock on this HIS card.

If you want a Minja, I have one that I'm selling. It's the one in the picture. I bought a second one for my dad's build, but he ended up using a case that doesn't have clearance for it. I just happened to use the new one when I upgraded the parts from what's in the picture.

I might try the idea of reversing the two top fans to be exhaust fans and then blocking off the left side vents... I'll give it a shot and see how it does. I'll try a before and after once I have everything. This way I can monitor temps in a 'real world' situation and go from there.

Are there any other intakes other than at the back? The intakes are really on the sides and the top. Did you cut out the vent for the CPU HS yourself? Yes, it was the only way I could fit the cooler. If the VRM's were just a tiny bit shorter, it would have fit so much nicers.... Here was my test fi...

Yet another HTPC build (for my dad this time) Silverstone SG

I upgraded the motherboard, CPU and RAM on my NSK2480, so I had some spare parts to offer my dad for a HTPC he's been wanting me to build. The cost of the entire project is going to cost him under $250, but he doesn't know that I'm adding some things that I told him I had laying around :) The specs ...

I've never had a problem with Stretch Magic holding a knot. I tie it many times in a bunch of different ways, but out of 3 computers, not of them have failed me. I'm currently doing another HTPC build that I just put some Stretch Magic in a Silverstone SG02.

You use the bracket that comes with the Ninja2 and take the screws, e-clips and back plate from the Xigmatek kit. Take the plastic push pins off of the Scythe bracket and insert the screws and clip on the e-clips so they'll stay put for installation. Then just install like any bolt-thru using the wr...

My recommendation would be the Scythe Ninja 2 with a bolt-thru kit. I've had really good luck with these (currently running two Ninja2's and one Minja) as they cool well and are quiet. Right, and as I've already stated... The heat pipes are already mounted in a block. They will conduct as normal. A larger block with fins isn't going to hurt what the heat pipes are doing. It's not going to hurt, in fact it will help for managing heat. The heat will be pulled from the CPU. The resi...
