There are quite a few supported LG drives, listed for CD-Bremse. My particular model just isn't one of them.

Holy thread resurrection! I'm having the same problem with a LG GCC-4480B combo drive. Are there any software programs that can slow down a drive, other than CD-Bremse and Nero Drivespeed? For my drive, it is very quiet playing DVD movies, but loud with music CD's. I had an Aopen drive in this PVR m...

That Silverstone is nice, but it is a little too costly ($150) and it doesn't accept standard-size ATX PSU's. My experience with m-ATX PSU's has always been bad. They're often noisier than an ATX PSU, it seems. Newegg has the Cooler Master ATC-620C-BX1 , which I think is a little expensive ($80), bu...

Need m-ATX Case and DVD-ROM advice for HTPC

I've got an HTPC I built a few years ago, stashed under my TV in a cabinet. It's ugly, but it works well. (I've been using Snapstream's Beyond TV.) I've been thinking, lately, of getting a good-looking black case and a DVD-ROM and moving the HTPC up to my A/V rack and using it as my DVD player and m...

Actually, LiteOn makes very good CD and DVD Burners, in my opinion. They are just noisy. For an SPCR reader, that probably makes them bad, but many people could care less about how noisy their CD/DVD Burner is.

Another mildly interesting tidbit... My maximum stable overclock is LOWER with this new ducted heatsink. Before, I could run up to 234 FSB, completely stable. Now, my maximum FSB is 225. I think that this is because I no longer have the peripheral airflow from the Zalman 7000, cooling the northbridg...

I've never used the Nexus fans, so I don't know how they compare. They will probably be fine (for PSU use), if they are rated for 20 CFM or better. That heatsinks will come with some cheap silicone heatsink compound. You may want to pick up some Arctic Silver 3 or Arctic Silver 5. It is better than ...

For the PSU exhaust fan, you'll need an 80x25mm fan. I highly recommend a Panaflo L1A for that particular application. Plug it into the PSU's fan connector, where the old fan was plugged in. This will vary the speed according to the PSU's temp sensors. Simply follow the directions in that article. I...

Zalman makes some big, passive VGA coolers (the ZALMAN ZM80C-HP is one of them.) I have one on my Ti4600 and my FX5200. They are awesome. If your case airflow is high enough, you don't even need a fan. If it isn't, you can run a slow/quiet fan across it and it will work great. For the CPU, I heartil...

Actually much quieter and cooler.....less back-pressure, less turbulence, better airflow. You might have a clearance problem with some setups.....but if it fits, it's a great mod. :) I really wanted to mount my fan, externally, too, but my setups just haven't had the clearance. I generally build wi...

Hi cmcquistion: My only concern is that airflow in my Antec Sonata is much lower than your Compucase LX-6A19. Also, what type of peak ambient temps do you have during summer months? Airflow resistance may be a problem with that case, in any configuration. I highly recommend you mod the front intake...

Do you guys think an FSP300-60PN with a Globe 120 mm fan at a fixed 7V input is safe in an airflow restricted case such as the Antec Sonata? (my idle temps run about 30 - 31 C during the summer. With Prime95, peak case tempts are ~ 34 - 35 C). I've run nearly that exact setup with a Globe fan at 5V...

I'm a big fan of the PC Power and Cooling Silencer. It is very quiet at 12V. It doesn't push as much air as many fans, but it is a good fan for a system, when you don't want to be bothered with volt mods and such.

In my opinion, you don't need intake fans, at all, provided that you have an open intake hole, so air can easily be sucked into the case. If you don't have an open intake hole, then air will get sucked into the case through every nook and cranny, including your optical drives and floppy drive. On ev...

I've gotten spectacular performance out of the Zalman, just in stock condition. The only thing that I change, out of the stock condition, is running it at lower than 5V (which is as low as the included Zalman Fan-Mate will allow.) I made a Fan Voltage Controller Strip, to achieve voltages as low as ...

I'd recommend the Zalman. It will be cheaper and more effective, at lower noise. In my opinion, Swiftech heatsinks are great when high airflow/noise fans are used but they don't really perform that well with low speed fans. The Zalman 7000, on the other hand is simply awesome, even at extremely low ...

Overclockers.com just did a review of the new Thermalright XP-90, which appears to have nearly identical performance to the XP-120. Well, the good news is that now that I've got Hyperthreading enabled, my idle temp generally runs 3-5 degrees over the case temp. The case temp generally runs 33-36C.
Not bad...

*EDIT* Full load CPU temps (while gaming) sometimes get up to 58-59C.

I didn't line it, but I don't see how that could make much difference, since the fan is at the end of the duct, exhausting. If it was at the intake side, than I can see how the fan noise could be amplified. In its current setup, the fan is not dumping noise into the duct, so I don't think is an issu...

The Evercool 120mm fans have 3 pin connectors and are usually bundled with a 4 pin to 3 pin adapter.
