Ya know... this has inspired me to go back to my server and work with it some more. I think its time to see what kind of underclock I can get on it, and then undervolt even more. Its an AMD 1700 (I think) running a 1.4ghz and 1.61vcore. Certainly doesn't need that amount of speed, its only averaged ...

I would do a 24hour run with Prime95 when you think you've reached as low as seems stable. When I was dropping the voltage on my AMD 1700 I went WAY down and worked my way up. It was fairly obvious when the voltage was way too low, wouldn't POST or get into Windows. Another step or two up and I coul...

Looks like I've chosen a bad time to put everything on pause again. With four to six cpus folding away in my bedroom, the heat is just too damn much. Even with the window open and a fan going 24/7 (which kills the purpose of having silent computers if I have to listen to the fan). Sorry folks, but m...

Oh yeah... too bad my dually is still too loud to leave on overnight. :( Need to get that PSU fan down to 5v instead of 12v.

Time to say goodnight to 2000ppw. <sigh>

Nice production from the new 'big' work units

I'm at 4700ppw right now with five AMDs cranking away. My new 1800 dually has 2050ppw just by itself. The 2.0ghz overclocked system is seeing 1250ppw. And how, you might ask? The wonderfully oversized and bonus scored large work units. The ones I've watched are about 4mb in size, and F@H takes about...

OK, so I've been outta touch for awhile. Is -advmethods still the best for AMD systems? Seem to remember that my AMDs liked the updated Tinkers. Is -advmethods dishing out Tinkers now? Should I be looking at the large work packets for my systems?

Just trying to re-optimize here.

About the best comments I can say in rebuttal to the 'debunking of Dvorak' is that it is by far more comfortable to type, and I haven't lost any of the speed that I had with Qwerty. The Dvorak layout seems to have more 'flow' across the keyboard than what the Qwerty does. Anytime I have to use a Qwe...

Re: dual 940s to fill the NEED

I'll be doing better as the weather cools off, and as I finish building my AMD dually. What are you putting into it? Tyan mobo, don't remember the model right now. 1800MP processors, 512mb memory, 80gb Cuda IV, 128mb Nvidia ti4200 And it will expand as time/money allow. Starting out with some basic...

OK... I'm back on the charts a little bit. Fired up my backup server, the wee little HP eVectra with a P3-566. It doesn't really put out any more heat if its folding or not.

Give me another month for things to cool down, then I'll have 5 AMDs going.

Re: Points Decline ? ! ?

IBrowsing other people's output it seems most everyone is on the decline or at best flat. Flat. yeah, that's me. Went from 5-8k per week to just about zilch. Been too hot at home to keep the computers on 24/7, not thinking about having them fold too. And the folks at work asked me to remove FAH fro...

Maybe I'm missing a basic idea of watercooling here... but I would have thought that you'd take the cool input water into the CPU block first, then graphics/nb. Basically reversing the order that you have the waterblocks set in Scenario 1 and 2. But, if I'm completely wrong here... well, wouldn't be...

Measuring the 5v or the 12v is easy with a multimeter, just right on the 4 connector molex plugs. But where would you physically check the 3.3v line? My cheap-arse PSU on one of my systems is also reporting at 2.93v, but I haven't had any problem with it.

Way to duct the psu! But why didn't the psu temps improve? I'd expect it to get cooler, since the cpu air isn't getting in. They did improve, but not much. And not nearly as much as I expected. I would expect a good, efficient PSU like the Seasonic to run much cooler than this Sparkle. Cabling is n...

My quick and simple PSU duct (plus clean wiring!)

Been messing about with this secondary system since I got it up and going recently. Its a 2100 running stable (72 hours of Prime95 stable) at 2.0ghz. With the CPU fan at 7v, it tops out at 60C under load. I had been looking at where the stock Evercase PSU (Sparkle!) did have its intake, right above ...
