Will this upgrade increase my heat much?

I know this is probably a stupid upgrade, but was looking at going from a: 1700 XP amd to a 2400 XP amd 7500 ATI to an Ultra fanless 9800 PRO ATI – I know the 9800 produces X 4 the heat of the 9600 but I really want it bad for gaming. and perhaps an upgrade on better ram – I just have cheapo generic...

Well I have ran the gambit of modding and start ups at 5 v and 6 v dual or in line wire ups and have found because of the mass amount of dirt in my systems, I guess?, fans began to lack a consistent start up, so I am always craking the case to see what fan is locked up. I had no idea I lived in so m...

Hey great tips here, also you might ut foam under the case or the tips on mountint the case on rollers or coasters. I have my hd mounted via a bungie hanging from loops up in the upper bay and the hd is hanging in front of the open end of the case and I used elastic to tie it across the bungie cord....

Haha you vets here know a fan along the exhaust - side cools alot better than one hanging in the bottom front case - air is sucked out sweetly whereas with that gapping hole does not seem to exit the case - plus - oh my gosh stupid me, setting my case just on top of a few pieces of carpet foam reall...

Agreed with Mike on the turbulance but it you space the fan with some sort of foam or rubber make sure it stays out of the direct path ohterwise you may create more noise, i know, I have done it. :)

Yes Wedge it is a loud hum, I cut out all grills all over my cats are smart enuff to stay away from the holes. :) Another culprit was an nmb over the SLK800, i'd forgot, oh duh, I'd used that on the cpu, I replaced it with an 80 L also and now actually managed to hang a 80 L above the ghetto mounted...

Good ideas you posted!, :) anymore from anyone is welcome.

I successfully silenced my athlon now, only because of all the kind help from Mike C and everyone here. :D I can’t hear the psu one of Mike’s modded 300w. My @5v panaflo over the vid card and freshly decoupled mounted in the lower end of the case hard drvie, all silent. But I still HEAR the exha...

Some greatest things that helped me besides fan replacements were hanging that hard drive in a bungie and tied on top with elastic cord, using ear plug foam for spacers/washers on fan mounts and roofers tape. Roofers taper really made a noticeable change in sound, maybe I am missing some high pitche...

Thanks, more 12 volt members than I thought, I am only thinking on isolating my cpu fan with some more soft foam to lower vibros and get some darn feet under that pc, I have always overlooked how much it might be sending vibrations to the floor.

Build or Buy?

How far back do you Guys/Gals suggest going to get a real silent pc? What I was thinking was some K6 amd or so and am pretty lost as which way to go. What I want is buy or mod an older machine, just for low end gaming nostalgia. Something that is silent, or almost totally and that I can run like Q1,...

Thanks for the replys - I got my hd suspended in the weirdest manner. I looped a cloth style bungie cord - using the hooks to hang from the crosstied bungies in the upper 51/2 bay drive and just wedged the Maxtor in the loop - then I tied it across the top with elastic sewing ribbon. Voila - I notic...

Thanks for the reply - I will try tonight or thursday to go with using that fanmate on the exhaust side/or/& replace it with a 80L and undervolt another 80 L below and watch temps. The hd temps do have me a tad concerned, not the cpu though - plus if I suspend that hd should help airflow around it t...
