That's about 10x as much computer as I'll ever need. That wallpaper is really cool and would look good on my laptop; could I get it in 1024x768? I don't think there's a Mac OS-tan wallpaper.

Caffeine Free Diet Coke....the power drink for old farts. I tried doing a notebook to digi-frame conversion but was stumped by the keyboard. I thought I could disconnect the internal keyboard and use the external keyboard port instead but that was a bad assumption. Maybe it was the model I was work...

I love it. I'm thinking of doing something similar to the guts of a 12" iBook. Only thing is, why use a can of *caffeine free* Diet Coke as a size comparator? I need my caffeine!

MC FLMJIG, those would not fit on a socket 775 board unless you rig up a system of adapter rails, and maybe not even then.

OP: have you looked at AC Alpine 7 or Zalman 7x00 with fan swap?

What's with that crazy eleven blade side fan? Is it a 120x20? One wonders if they could have not made the case 5mm wider. Read the original post, it's a 14cm fan. Oops! Got caught with egg on my face. It is replaceable with a 12cm though? (There's not that many 14cm fans that are awesome as, say, N...

I have to agree with jhhoffma really. Yet a note about overclocking big brand machines:
You can't. The BIOS is specially crippled to prevent it. IME that applies for all the big brands.

Hmm, so my original idea was more on-base, especially since my CPU is the component in this case that produces the most heat! Also, how thick of a material should I build the case from? The SketchUp model was constructed under the assumption of 10mm.

The HDD will be either below the DVD drive or at the top of the case between it and the PSU. Putting it at the top would allow for a more direct noise path through the top vent, which is a bad thing since it's a 40GB Western Digital ball-bearing model. Whines like a bitch. So it'll probably end up b...

Wooden case ideas

I thought up a tall wooden case today. It's like 360mm deep by 640mm tall by 200mm wide; I'd like your thoughts on it. It has bottom-to-top ventilation. http://crazytales.nonlogic.org/images/WIPcase.jpg crappily annotated SketchUp screenie; it's 10pm and I couldn't be bothered to do anything better ...

How's the mobile rack on hard drive noise? I think you could eliminate the CPU fan by ducting it to the rear case fan.

Wind tunnels as in TJ06 would probably work quite nicely. I'm thinking of building my own wood case, but it wouldn'thave to keep as much wattage cool (P4 Northwood and FX5200) so I haven't thought of cooling ideas for dual 8800s.

bet you can mount the fans on the otherside of the heatsink too. it looks like itll fit if you have it point over the northbridge.
However, that NT01 doesn't fit a socket 462 cpu, which is what his Athlon XP 3200+ is.

The NSK6000 is simply the [6500] without a PSU. They're otherwise the same. (The 6000 isn't available in the US as far as I've seen.)

As far as I can tell, you're asking about the P182's HDD mounting. Put the rubber mounts so that the thicker side is facing the HDD. As far as replacing the top/rear fans, try them at low first. That's quiet enough for many users.

Seconded! As well as the new Zalman GPU coolers and Sugo SG03. The Thermalright case seems like a study in excess, as well as having questionably efficiency with the loooooooooooong heatpipes.
