What case?
If in a 180 I would say the 2 80s.
If in a more conventional case where the PSU is on the top back of the case then the 120 would make more since.

The fanmate will lower the range of the voltage so instead of the motherboard controlling it from say 12v to 8v you will end up with 9v to 5v.

Perhaps you can get yourself a few Zalman Fan Mates to slow down your fans a tad more.

I have the AMD FX53 with a XP-90 and a low speed panaflo and run in the low 50s after half hour of prime95.

The lastest drivers seem to have issues you haven't updated that as of late by chance.

The low is more than enough for my FX-53 highest I have seen is in the low 50s running Prime95

Did you lap it, if not perhaps that will drop you anouther 3 or 4c.

Don't forget to enable your cool n quite that dropped my temps down about 5c.

If I was going to learn how to remove a GPU heat sink I couldn't think of a better video card to rip apart and learn from.

With the 6800GT it will be a wash since it was first designed for the AGP slot not the PCI-E.

My vote would be to save up and get new and pass that computer down to your parents / kids.)
