Re: Arctic Cooling Accelero S2 VGA Cooler
GT240 DDR5 holds it's value... if you are building hackintosh (no games) - because it works natively out-of-the-box with HDMI sound. And it's a great (cheap) card to pair with cheap CPU like G3220 - since it's integrated GPU does not work in OS X. This is the combo that handles single task work as g...

Re: Arctic Cooling Accelero S2 VGA Cooler
I wil try it for sure - but the GT240 was in my office and I was wondering if S2 would fit without the card in my hand and with just a S2 photo in online auction
So I've thought that list may come in handy if someone is wondering the same thing.

TRUE universal BTK adapter
I wish I could get that where I live
I have Thermalright HR-01 hidden deep in my treasure chest.
I would like to use it with G860 cpu (socket 1155).

Re: Arctic Cooling Accelero S2 VGA Cooler
I was wondering if I can put S2 on GT240 - because I've bought S2 second hand for $10. So I've cross-referenced mount holes distance list I've found on internet with cards that was listed as compatible. Looks like GT240 mount holes distance is 43x43mm - just like GF 6600. I'm attaching the PDF with ...

Re: GTX 1070 purchase advice
Check out ASUS STRIX series. I don't know if it's still valid for 10xx series - but for 9xx cards STRIX series was designed to run fanless (fans don't spin) if running idle. And when gaming it was relatively quiet too. I can confirm that it was the case with GTX960 - silent when idle, quiet when gam...

Re: best airflow for the smallest (14l) modded mATX case
I've measured the back. 120mm fan would be a perfect fit for the back. I can cut the cover from the 1mm metal sheet (with the cut-out for a 120mm fan) and glue it to the back with epoxy. Effectively sealing all of the openings and strengthening the back a little bit. white = metal sheet back cover r...

The only other name that I recall is X2 CUBE MAX http://www.x2products.com/computer-cases/cube-max-x2-j711b-cer-u3/ But this is still in Europe IIRC. Re: RAIJINTEK STYX small micro ATX case - airflow schemes
Thank you all for your input - especially Luca! --- This discussion really made me questioning my case choice. With the fans at the top it would be a really cool (pun intended) light gaming case - but since I'm planning to use up to 2 fans - I've started thinking that maybe I should use even smaller...

I was planning to move my parts to RAIJINTEK STYX mATX case (see this thread http://www.silentpcreview.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=69588) and Luca (thanks again!) suggested me Silverstone SST-ST30SF V1.0 300W PSU - small SFX psu that stays fanless under 55'C This PSU is perfect for my needs (low...

Well, I'm sure I forgot some really good PSU, but nonetheless I guess you have more than an option. Whoa! You've outdone yourself! What a list - thanks! I've read some reviews of the first one - Silverstone SST-ST30SF V1.0 300W - looks like a good candidate. Especially for my average power consumpt...

Re: small micro ATX case - airflow schemes (advise what's be
@quest_for_silence Thank you for your advices. It will be only this machine. I think I won't be touching graphics card - most of the time it sits idle (@6W power consumption). So it's not worth any investment and existing fanless solution should work ok with minimal case airflow. As for the PSU - ma...

Re: small micro ATX case - airflow schemes (advise what's be
@NeilBlanchard I can reverse fan in PSU and use it as an relatively cold air intake. My rationale was to duct this cold air to CPU and exit hot air at the back of the case [4] It can be even done with just one fan on CPU heatsink with a tight enough duct and sealed [2] intake - because PSU doesn't ...

Re: small micro ATX case - airflow schemes (advise what's be
Do (or will) you overclock? No - I can overclock to 4.3Ghz and it doesn't really make a difference form stock 3.9Ghz, so it's not worth additional heat from overvolting Which is the PSU? I have almost new NEXUS 4090 - http://www.silentpcreview.com/article204-page1.html rated at 400W that is twice a...

ASUS nvidia 6200 fanless. It should be cooler than 9600, plus you can easily underclock/undervolt it without any preformance problems in a HTPC use.
I'm very happy with this card.

I believe it is only available used (eBay, etc.)

I want to buy a G5 iMac 20"- is it as quiet as Intel?
I want to buy an iMac for its sleek cable-less design. I've read numerous reviews ( including SPCR one ) saying that the new Intel iMac is VERY quiet (SPCR - "The 17" iMac has almost everything a silencer could want"). But the Intel Mac is too expensive (for me) and the G5 iMac is fast enough for me...

2.5" HDD running 24/7 - is it safe?
I've read somewhere that HP is going to put 2,5" HDDs in its servers. They said that it will be SPECIAL 2,5" HDD that are capable of running 24/7, because standard 2,5" HDD are designed rather for many start/stop cycles - not for many allways-ON hours. Unfortunately, I can't find that info anymore :...
