doesn't look very silent to me... ditch the tagan - go for a seasonic / corsair OCZ vindicator? scythe ninja / thermalright ultra extreme no idea about the case... the 1TB hitachi isn't very silent...the WD 1TB is a lot better... 2X ATI FIREMV 2400 PCI-E 256MB QUAD DVI ? -> why? doubt they'd be quie...

my 1200 isn't great as an exhaust (~900RPM)...but its mainly whoosh...

i have 3 more in the case (2 intake + 1 CPU) and over the noise of the rest of the stuff in the box (10HDs) you can't hear them at all no matter what speed they run...

idle noise on the 1TB is less than the 501LJ and 5000KS..

can't comment on vibration / seek noise as it lives in my RAID array...maybe when i upgrade all my drives to 1TB i can make out the difference....

i'm very happy with my 1TB WD drives...idle noise is excellent at is capacity and power consumption / heat...

though you may be able to do better with a single platter drive....

my duct is to feed fresh air to my PSU from the front of my case...it needs to be sturdy enough to mount a fan at the intake end... the acoustipack is going to be used as a) i have some lying around b) to add soem weight to it, hopefully lessening vibrations... c) it'll hopefully cover up what a mes...

i'm going with styrene sheets with acoustipack on the inside...

hi i have just bought a corsair 620

its for a system with 10 hard drives and an optical drive and i was wondering it it was best to 'spread' the power draw over as many cables as i can...

or does it even make a difference at all whether all the draw comes from one cable?

ps in my sr107 my seasonic 650 is mounted upside down, but there isn't much airflow to it...which causes it to ramp up... so you might need to find a decent way of feeding fresh air to the power supply with this case...

i also have an SR107, nice big sturdy case, can be quiet if you want as it uses 120mm fans....

i've already pre-ordered (has been for a few weeks)

but will cancel if it doesn't materialize soon...

in my raid array for a few days now...temps are 38C (about the same as my samsungs)

by comparison my WD 500GB is 51C and Seagates (400GB) are 45C

why seagate? those thigns aren't particularly silent? and hardly stellar performace either?

bobbo i wouldn't rule out the WD (even with their marketting crapola), but i guess it depends on what you want to do with the drive...

i'm happy to sacrifice a little performance (i'm already using RAID 6) for decent quiet high capacity drives...and so far its fits the bill...

i cannot notice any difference in noise while it is running that might indicate any speeding up or slowing down

that's not to say it isn't happening...

any suggestions for a quiet router in that case...

i've seen reports of blu-tac and silicone being used on the coil to stop whine...any verification?

WD 1TB arrived today...haven't actually used it apart from powering on, but initially seems very very promising nosie wise... in free air there is a substantial difference at idle noise wise, compared with my Samsung 500Gb and WD 500GB (KS) drives... hopefulyl it won't be long till my samsung teraby...

ok, i've bitten the bullet... i'm discarding the Hitachi as an option but have preordered a Samsung f1 1TB (can't seem to get it available in the UK as yet?) and ordered 1 WD 1TB will let you know some comparisons as soon as i get them... haven't got any fancy equipment, but my ears are pretty sharp...

is it a redundant psu? they tend to come in U form factors (i.e. 1U, 2U, 3U etc)

sorry off-topic but how are those F1 1TBs working out for you noise wise...

still ahving trouble getting them over here in england.... and not sure whether to go for WDs 1TB GPs
