The temps, while they look high, are not in any meaningful context. What would be useful to know would be: the ambient temp, idle temp, load temp (prime 95 on all four cores, or some other standard test).

I've got a WHS based on a Gigabyte G41M-ES2L, E5200, 4 gig of RAM and EA380 PS. With only the main drive (HITACHI HD31000, 1TB 7200 RPM) spinning it draws 40w. The 2nd storage drive is the same 2TB Samsung drive. (The Samsung drives only draw 4w@idle, and are very quiet.) It's not hard building good...

On a Gigabyte MB that setting has nothing to do with the RAM timing settings (those are found in the Memory settings). I've yet to run into a situation where if the memory and CPU were run at rated speed the Enhanced setting didn't work fine. However, the timing on the all the signals is very critic...

In my opinion, it makes more sense to use some real formulas to calculate this sort of thing:

Well, if dirty, dusty air is going to be passed through the cooler, then the less air the better. The fan should be under auto control so its speed is determined by the CPU temp, and the set point for the temp should be fairly high. People like to keep their CPU as cool as possible, but what is actu...

If the CPU test crashes after 1 or 2 minutes you have a problem and it's prpbably hardware. The CPU test isn't very severe; Linpack is the heavy hitter. Try running only 1 stick of memory at a time and see if one of the sticks is stable. Check in the BIOS to see if the memory voltage is set to the r...

Perhaps the design of the loop allows for a certain amount of multiplication of the airflow from the smaller fan... Look, an electric motor converts electrical energy in to mechanical energy. Average power is total power used divide...

No flaw that's how efficiency is calculated while doing work; when it's idling it's just a space heater.

It's important to know the power used under those two conditions so one can evaluate the CPUs for different applications.

OCCT can be used to stress, the CPU, GPU or both together to stress the PS. If your computer can get through an hour of Linpack, the the problem is either with the video card or the drivers.

That's with the voltage set to [Auto]. If the SPD value is 1.8v ad the voltage is set to [Normal] it will receive 1.8v. the Auto setting Gigabyte BIOS' will almost always set the voltage higher than nominal.

A fan that does not have high static pressure will not push, or pull that well against a high impedance, i.e., attached to a heat sink.

Having said that, with a stock clocked E5200 you'd be fine with 2 800RPM Slip Streams in a push-pull configuration.

All PS's have a fan speed control circuit that is usually based on a temperature reading in the PS. The fan will almost never run at full speed unless it is under full rated load and the ambient temperature is high. The S-Flex F in my HX-520 barely spins a a few hundred RPM. The 1800 RPM GT would al...

The Slipstream uses a plain bearing and doesn't have a very long life mounted in a horizontal position. That's the reason for the S-FLEX F (1600 rpm) being recommended most often for this application. It also has a higher static pressure, which is appropriate for cooling a PS. (If I was going to rep...

On the other hand, the CPU voltage regulators are usually in that area so it might not be a bad thing to have cold air drawn in from that direction on some motherboards. If the VRM's are really too hot, then maybe. Remember that the low pressure area will be right behind the rear case fan. Any air ...

I have a Gigabyte EP45-UD3L MB in one of the computers here, and it's a fine MB, but you don't really need it for this application. A mATX G41 chipset MB with integrated graphics is all that is needed. It will be significantly cheaper and use less power (graphics and fewer devices on the MB).

Got that right, and the panel is adjacent to the rear case fan. That results in a short circuit path for the air flow causing other areas in the case to get reduced air flow.

Take a look at the I/O panel of a typical MB and count all the connectors. Then imagine cables running between a slot bracket and the MB for all those connectors.

Basically, your solving a none problem by creating all sorts of new ones.

The fan is defective. Something is either warped or out of balance. If you don't want to buy a new fan, then try getting Antec to send you a replacement fan. The next best thing is to get rubber isolation mounts instead of mounting the fan with screws.

You really need a new fan.
