You can get Nexus fans, but there are cheaper alternatives. Check the stickied threads in Fans & Control. The fan that comes with the Ninja Plus is fairly quiet IIRC, but you don't need it if you've got exhaust fans... or at the very least, you won't need to run it at anything near 12V. You don't ne...

Even if the HDs do draw more power when first spinning up, there is basically no load from the video card (almost irrelevant in this situation) and almost no load (I think) from the CPU.

Unfortunately, I don't know of any quiet single-rail PSUs. The 12V2 is generally only used for the 2x2 power connector... which P3s don't have, so you'd be stuck with only one rail if using a dual rail supply.

It's more accurate to add up the amount of +12V current used by each component and check if it's lower than the combined max of the PSU, since 80%+ of the power is drawn off the +12V rail(s) in modern PCs. Conroe - 65/12 = 5.5, though Intel's TDP are quite optimistic Mobo - 2-3A HDs - check the manu...

AFAIK sound absorption is proportional to thickness of media, not shape (position does, for bass) or surface area.

Scythe Ninja, Thermaltake Big Typhoon, Tuniq Tower 120, Thermalright Ultra-120, or the Thermalright SI-128 should work well. Kentsfield should have a TDP around 110W which can be handled by any of the aforementioned coolers. You can fit 4 HDs in the bottom cage, so extra HDs shouldn't affect airflow...

I can't believe I installed it... So basically it's a P180 clone? IMO, inverting the motherboard is better than leaving it in the standard orientation, since all PSUs can be used (that you would use in a regular case anyway) and heat doesn't get stuck underneath the graphics card. You need advice on...

The bigger, the better. The more internal volume, the more acoustic damping you can fit inside and the fancier the baffling you can install. :) Heck, go overboard and build with constrained layer damping. Perhaps a wood-rubber-aluminum/steel sandwich? http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ite...

dont know what acetal is.... where does the water pick up its impurities from? metals, tubes or what? Gold plating like anodizing aluminum requires an even, unscratched surface to remain noncorrosive. Anodizing has nothing to do with gold (maybe that's not what you meant) and it'll still work with ...

Yep. The 2x2 connector is usually on its own rail for a multi-rail PSU. If I didn't mind losing out on the warranty (that's a big if) I would cut the cable and splice it, taking care with the solder joints.
