As far as i know, USB can only give 5 volts.

And im not sure if a fan would draw too many amps for a USB port either.

I have a TJ08 and its pretty nice.

Only problem is lack of harddrive room if you have a big heatsink.

It has 120mm fans front and back.

3.5" External USB Enclosure

Hi. Im thinking about moving my 500GB hard drive out of my case, and into an external enclosure. Its a samsung drive. I have a microATX case, and its very squashy with 2 hard drives in it. Anyone use an external enclosure on here? What are some good quiet ones? Also, with the bandwidth of USB be eno...

Thanks for that potsy.

Does anyone know if the AM2 CPU socket is taller/shorter than the Intel one? Also, do different motherboards have different height sockets?

I think i have about 117mm max, so i doubt the mini ninja will fit unfortunately :(

Mini Ninja height

I was wondering if anyone could measure their mini ninja for me. If possible, could someone measure it from the flat surface of the motherboard to the topmost point on the mini ninja. I realise it is 115mm tall, but i need to know how tall it is one actually mounted, as i have very little room for i...

Well i got some measurments yesterday.

From a flat surface on the motherboard to the heatsink its roughly 117mm. Im guessing the CPU sits a bit higher though, so anything around 100-110mm should be fine i think.

Sorry, i dont have any measurements. It does need to be shorter than a video card though.

I used to have a Arctic Cooling Freezer 64, but it is too tall and hits on the video card heatsink.

Im starting to think this MicroATX case was a bad idea :)

I will see if i can get some measurements tonight.

Low profile AM2 heatsink

Hi all. Im after a low profile AM2 heatsink for my 4200+. It needs to be low profile, as i have a passive 8600GTS that has a rather large heatsink that sits over the top of the CPU. Im not sure how tall the heatsink can be exactly, but as long as it doesnt stick out any further that the video card d...

Is your motherboard grounded properly?

A lot of people use those little red washers when they install the motherboard, which means it isnt earthed properly.

Ive read on here where someone did that, so they removed one of the washer from one of the standoffs and it fixed it.

Well, i put my stuff into the TJ08 last night. Depending on your CPU heatsink and fan, you might not be able to fit 3 drives in the normal 3.5" bays. I have an Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro and i cant fit any hard drives there. For now, one is sitting on some bubble wrap on the bottom of the case, a...

I just ordered a Silverstone TJ08.

Seems to fit all your requirements. Obviously its a little bit tight up near the PSU and optical drive, but thats something you have to live with when you use a Micro ATX case.

Looks like it could work ok.

Would have to have my Seasonic PSU upside down so the fan blows out the top of the case.

Can have 1 HDD on the case floor, and one in the 5.25" bay. Looks a bit cramped though.

If it is a router/modem in one, and it is plugged into your pc via usb, then you may have problems.

If it it plugged in via ethernet, then you have no problems at all.

I made a 0,5,7,12 volt switch using a Rotary switch, but beware. The switches i used wouldnt break the current curcuit before switching to the next, so when i went from 5 to 7 or 7 to 12, it would short, and reset my PC :(

Just a little update here. I just changed the front intake fan to 5v, the Video Card fan to 5v, and the rear exhaust fan to 7v. I then stopped each fan one by one, and there is only 1 left that is noticebly noisy. Its the PSU fan, which is still at 12v. When i change this to 7v, my whole PC should b...
