Well said, Neil.

I fold because it is a way to rationalize my need for bigger, better, smarter, etc. Oh, and I have two of my computers at work. :)

setsugen review
The 33 Euro aftermarket cooler keeps up with the stock cooler, but with less noise. Not the best review, but at least it's something. Looks like it will fit a 260.

will those cores have HT as well? If not, do you think 6 "real" cores would deliver better PPD than 8 real/HT cores in an i7?

frenchie, try running P95 for 24 hours or more to make sure. If it can make it that long then it's more than likely gonna be okay. The longest time with an error using that approach has been 23 hours and 16 minutes. Of course, I was running an e2160 at double its original clockspeed, but hey, it hap...

Best Buy had one on sale about two weeks ago for $165. About the price you could have gotten it for a year ago.

I went into the original Best Buy and bought one. I may not catch up to cordis, but I'm agonna tries it.

Well, I've done some tinkering and observing since I last posted. I think the problem lay in the GTX 260 going into low-power 3D mode when either the screen saver kicks in or the monitor kicks off. This is reproducible in multiple systems, even after a clean install of WinXP and new drivers. What is...

But! I've been having some issues with it now, it's not 100%. It tends to "freeze" once a day, so when i'm coming home from work and notice, many hours has been lost on the CPU-folding. How much memory did you assign to it? I've read some on this and you probably need to assign 1024 Mb of memory to...

I don't know, $350 smackers for a used board would make me think twice. Or three times. There's got to be a reason that someone didn't like it, or it wouldn't have been turned back in. I've reached the point where I'm craving stability over absolute productivity. Fire and forget, and all that. In th...

No, no, no! Not sad! Brave, determined, persevering -- that's what it is! Sure, we're making more points, but we also have more/better/faster/more expensive hardware. You're giving what you have and making it work better than it would otherwise. Maybe that means more, in the end, like the widow who ...
