I'm also thinking about replacing the fan in the SL350S with a L1A. Except i will not be using it in the BQE...instead, i will be using it to power an old PowerMac 6100. The machine's PSU died, and i am currently using an old AT psu externally to power the machine. But as you would probably guess, t...

Computer in filing cabinet
I'm thinking about taking apart my Powermac 7100 (remember those? I use it as a television) and put it in a filing cabinet. It really reduced the noise when i tried it, but the catch is that it gets pretty hot. I don't think i can get actual temperature readings from the computer (considering that i...

Is it a Samsung SW-252?
I'm looking to get the Samsung SW-252 (black version), and i was wondering if this drive: http://i13.ebayimg.com/01/i/01/dc/c2/42_1.JPG Has the same insides as that of what i'm guessing is the current model? It looks different, and I prefer it. i find it less...funky...than the current one. But my p...

Quiet audio CD playback
I'm looking for a CD-RW drive that can play audio CDs quietly and acurately. Both of these factors are very important to me. I'm thinking about the samsung 52x32x52 or plextor premium... I don't care too much about burning CDs...I want something that works reliably, but I don't do it that often...ma...

The machine was quieter before I had to replace the PSU. I've ordered an extra 80mm L1A...so I was thinking of using that instead... The PSU is just sitting on the floor outside any case. You think the panaflo @5V will suffice? I don't have any instruments to measure the temperature, so I'm afraid I...

AT PS fan replacement
I am using an old mac (PowerMac 6100) with an external AT power supply (the 6100's PS died) as part of a TV. There is no hard drive in the machine, so the only source of noise is pretty much just the AT PS. The PS is quite noisy (i think it's just one of the generic devices) so I'd like to replace t...

Which is quieter? The Nexus or a modded Seasonic (with a L1A Panaflo replacement)?

Sleeve the fan tail?
I'm looking to order an 120mm evercool and it has an option to "Sleeve the fan tail"...
What does this mean? It's only $1.5 extra, and I was wondering if it would be worthwhile. With it reduce noise?

120mm Evercool @ <= 5V sufficient? overkill?
I've almost finished deciding on my new PC, all that's left is the case fan. here is what I've got: P4 2.8 Northwood ASUS P4P800 2x256 MB PC3200 120 GB 7200 Samsung Radeon 9200 Sony 52X/32X/52X CDRW Evercase E4252 case Nexus NX3000 PS Zalman CNPS7000A-ALCU I still have to choose a case fan(s). Aluminum or Plastic Evercool?
I'm looking for a case fan and am thinking about getting a 120mm evercool. With the aluminum version costing twice as much ($30), I'm hesitant to buy such an pricy fan.
I will be running then at a low voltage. Is the aluminum version noticably quieter? Is it really worth it?

SLK3700 vs ECE4252
I'm looking to build a new quiet PC and was orginally thinking of going with the Evercase ECE4252 (based mainly on the recommendations section of this site). But after reading through posts in this forum, it seems the Antec SLK3700 case is quite popular here. How do these two compare in terms of noi...

Actually, I just took another look an evercase's website (http://evercase.com/newsite/2product/index4252.htm), and it seems the rear can handle 8, 9, and 12 cm fans. Can I get away with running a 8 cm fan at 5V? I've found the 8cm Panaflo (L1A), Nexus (80MM-B), or Papst (8412NGL) here in Vancouver. ...

I'm building a new quiet PC and am looking for some advice on the choice of parts.
