During Windows installation I did notice some writing sounds from the disc Sorry for resurrecting an old thread, but I'm interested in this drive. But I've read newegg-reports saying the read/write noise is quite high. I wonder if suspension and dampening mats and AAM will remedy it. My current Sam...

I ended up going back to my old setup but with some extra bonus: Lined a bunch of dampening foam in the 5.25 bay area: The egg-crate foam touched the drive's narrow sides, which I didn't like, so I had to rip off some of the "peaks" to allow some 0.5 cm distance between the surfaces. http://img38.im...

Results of both top-downers for scythe are very impressive, there's just two things I don't raeally like about them: Push-pins for LGA 775 ( there's no much choice though ) and the fact both cooler's are lying down just on one sets of heat pipes making heatpipes bend. I like Original Zipang because...

HDD questions & Softmounting an exhaust fan
Hello all, I've been thinking a lot recently on how to improve the silencing in my rig and would appreciate some input. I could of course experiment before asking these questions, but right now I'm afraid of my wife who thinks I spend too much time with this "PC silencing thing". So I need to find o...

Re: Help silence my pc after the fact (w. pics)
I don't know for sure with your graphics adapter. The cooler you have now clearly stinks. I'm sure you'd be fine with an Accelero S1 and a 600 RPM fan zip-tied to the overhang "to the right" of the wireless card. I.e. only covering half of the Accelero S1. Nice! Actually I remember seeing another V...

What do you guys think? Very clean and tidy cable management! Have you considered suspending the HDD? http://www.silentpcreview.com/article8-page2.html If an Accelero can't handle your graphic card passively, I'm sure there are other ways to tackle the problem, like mounting a fan as close to the c...

Of course 550 rpm fan that is audiable might due poor sample of fan. Some fan are noisy no matter what rpm's they are running. Even if they're reputable series. I had few poor sample iof Slipstream's and Nexus RealSilent basics in myself and they were pretty much audiable at any rpm, however bit re...

If you can hear a 550RPM fan from more than a few inches away, there is something very unique to your situation that cannot be fixed by changing the fan. That may not be happy news, but it doesn't make it worthless. If this is your situation, there is no magic fan for you. You need to start looking...

I seriously can't hear it unless I kneel down and put my head in level with the intake vent slits on the P182. Sure, but I would say the same thing about a 550RPM fan. I definitely can't hear that from more than a few inches away . . . At least not in a normal room. Do you live in an anechoic chamb...

I`m quite pleased with my kama pwm. I was specifically looking for typical pwm artifacts but found none. The motor is as smooth as the best of them. I`ve also got an artic cooling pwm (the one with the conventional frame). It`s not as smooth as the skythe but it`s still decent. The problem is that ...

speedfan takes some finesse.. as for your fan rpm fluctuations a quick glance on newegg will tell you that the rpm of the fan is 800 (or 1200 whatver one u got) +- 10%. That means, that if you bought a 1200 rpm fan, at any given rpm, the fan may spin 120 rpm above or below the "nominal" rpm for any...

I have the same "problem" with the Fanmate. I have two fanmates connected to my system fan and cpu fan and I often experience variations in rpm for both fans, around 20-30 rpm Id guess.Square Wave wrote:
I wonder why the speed still seems variable, despite having disabled the Q-Fan in BIOS and used this FanMate.
