I've been running my two WD Raptors (10 000 RPM) both in a Smart Drive 2002s and so far no problems. I don't have my computer on 24/7 though, and I've only done this for about a month, but so far, no problems. I don't even have mine at the bottom of my case with a fan blowing on them !! (they're bot...

I'm such an Uber Dork that the thought of a pure silver SLK-900 or whatever - really gets me excited (not in THAT kinda way though  ). Maybe I should write into Thermalright and suggest this for a "special edition" version? I'd bet there's enough freaks like me out there that would snap these ...

I really don't know to be honest. I'm confident they're OK. I had my Barracuda IV in a Silent Drive (not Smart Drive) and those things toast your HD. Anyway, it was fine (for the year and a bit that I used it). I had a sticker on it that indicated the max temperature - it shows 60 degrees Celcius. I...

I have two Raptors, both in Smart Drive 2002s, in RAID 1 (mirror). Even enclosed in the Smart Drives, I can still hear the high pitched whine. I still think that WD did a great job on the engineering of these drives, I can't imagine a 10 000 RPM drive being any quieter, even perhaps if it was manufa...

The Peltier/TEC cooler adjusts its power requirements with the CPU load, which as far as I know is new: CPU in sleep mode: 4W CPU in typical mode (running office programs): ~15W CPU under maximum load: 73W Admittedly, 73W is a lot of heat, but some cases could handle that extra heat, especially ones...

Innovative (Quiet?) Thermaltake Products
Since that post about the TT Silent Boost, my interest in TT products has perked. When placing an order at Bigfoot, I noticed they were selling this FAN SPEED H.M.L RPM. Setting Cable. http://www.thermaltake.com/products/accessories/switch.htm It seems like a good solution for those that need extra ...

Bad news. I've failed miserably. :( Okay, now down to the details. The PS2 is probably about the most annoying, un-userfriendly thing to work with. Everything is cramped up and they have this stupid ribbon cable thing going on to connect things, and unless you have hands the size of a two year old, ...

Lian Li has a special computer case (PC-6070) designed for quietness in mind. It has no front vents as far as I know of. Instead, it's raised up off the ground and uses an intake at the bottom.

Interesting info there Mike, thanks. However, I still think it could be worth trying. Two L1As or SilenX at 5V in a push/pull config may not push enough air to cause noise due to turbulence, but with the added pressure, that limited CFM can be fully taken advantage of. Maybe this config may not prov...

Mike C wrote, Not sure why you think this would be so much better than any other? Well, it makes use of the tunel theory like other quiet PSUs, which has already been discussed. However, since it has the advantage of having a fan blowing into the tunel, and a fan sucking out of the tunel, this shoul...

My D8000 has the same problem (the 120mm fan right by the CPU HSF). I have a Coolcases modded one, so the fans are mounted by regular wood screws into rubber grommets. Anyway, it occured to me that I could probably mount the 120mm fan on the back outside the case, instead of inside the case. To get ...

Just read the review. It looks promising. I like how it uses some copper. I wish they would make PSUs with copper heatsinks, or at least some copper. Seems like an easy way to make it more quiet. Guess it could get expensive though. However, I bet even low grade copper cools better than premium alum...

Hi Bmod. Thanks for your response but I don't think we should let UPS (or perhaps FedEX) off the hook that easily. The fact still remains that they charged me $47 bucks just to collect the GST and pass it on to the Canadian Government. That $47 all goes to UPS, not the Canadian Government I'm sure 9...
