Firefox 3.6, Namoroka, is noticeably faster
You always hear about how one browser is faster than the others, but 3.6 is quick. I hope they update the extensions fast.

I don't know if it is the absolute lowest, but AnandTech just tested the Nividia GT 210 and 220. A quote from their article: "At idle, the GT 220 is one cool card. We’re a bit surprised that it couldn’t beat the 5850 here given the tiny 7W idle power usage" AnandTech. And MSI has a passive 210 v...

I have a Sceptre X20G-NagaIII and it is consuming 27 watts. The brightness is turned down and it is only calibrated by my eye. Which is to say not much at all. I don't hear any noise to speak of, but perhaps I am just not obsessive enough. Sceptre is a low price brand. I applaud SPCR for reviewing m...

I thought more would post on this subject. I feel I might update a system I already have with a new cpu or even m/b, but for a whole new system I am looking forward to a CULV. Book or desktop I don't know, but if I can run a bigger screen off the netbook. and a better keyboard, then I will bet it is...

The op wants to play video and the Atom has a difficult time with Flash video. The nividia 9300 is going away, likely due to the fact that the 775 cpu is going away. That is too bad as I think that is a good chipset. Handles Linux and has Pure Video, etc. But they are usually considerably more expen...

Really a curious situation as companies like Gigabyte and Asus have as many six or eight motherboards in their P55 lineup, but I have read where the Lynfield chipset might be superseded in just sixth months. As I understand it there is no northbridge. It might be a cool running chipset. There is a l...

My 18 Cubic Feet Amana electric uses about 560 watts steady state when on. My 1.6 cf GE uses about 60 steady. Measured by Kill-a-watt. The quiet GE is very small and it has no fan so manual defrost. It would not be sufficient for a large family. We have learned to adjust for this. It doesn't hold mu...

This is one of the best value chipsets at the moment. Despite my previous problems with the 780G chipset, I may give this iteration another go. The Gigabyte GA-MA785GPM-UD2H (DDR2 version) is fairly cheap around here and is packed with more than enough features than I actually need. DDR3 memory is ...

So Mike, where are your P55 pre-release reviews?
It seems the Internets (tm GW Bush) is just filled up with anticipation of the P55, complete with pretty pictures and heavy forum discussion. I know there was a brief discussion here about why SPCR does M/B reviews. I like the SPCR M/B reviews as there is mention of things important to me like Speed...

I had that happen. Pretty much as you described. I changed out like three PS, checked memory, swapped HDs, thought of overheating, etc. Exasperating. I had it open one time and somehow nudged the cord that comes from the power switch on the front to the M/B. It stopped. Turns out a loose connection....

Consider the BenQ T2200HD. I bought one earlier this year for the same reason you stated (movies). Also, it has a screen format of 16:9. The usual for computer monitors is 16:10. Your video card will make the all difference. (I am using an ATI Radeon 2600 Pro at the moment, and am happy with the re...

How do I waste time? Generally, just sitting in front of this computer. And I don't want to say that it is all a bad thing.
