Prescott 2.4 GHz cool enough?
I am currently using a Celeron 2.0 but I'm forced to upgrade to a P4. The cheapest P4 I can get hold of is a 2.4 GHz with 533 MHz buss precott. Northwood seem to be hard to find. Will a prescott run cool enopugh or should I try to get hold of a Northwood?

Budget? AMD? Socket A?
I'm going to build a cheap system for my mother and intially I planned to use socket 478/celeron but after getting suggestions for an AMD64 for my own system it made me wonder if AMD would have more to offer performance and heat-wise. Any suggestions about socket, processor, chipset and motherboard?

Re: Nidec Samsungs avaliblility in Sweden
Added Tricom and second reply from dp.se. Also added note about local store that sells Samsung drives. I got my 160 GB / 8 MB Spinpoint from Komplett.se, and while I have no idea what this JVC/Nidec business is about, I can say that it's as quiet or quieter than my 80 GB Barracuda IV. Seek noise mig...

Okay, Iv'e done some measurements. Ambient temps are around 20-25 i guess. Motherboard temp is 32 degrees. 44 degrees celcius with all hsf at idle. 58 with intel stock hsf, 56 with the arctic cooling, 64 with arctic cooling with fan running at 1200 rpm under load. Thus the problem does not lie in th...
