I also have a seagate 7200.10 320gb sata. I was expecting something a lot noisier after the spcr review, but I believe sample variance has a lot to do with the outcome of reviews. Anyway, I just had an older western digital drive crash, so I think I'll stick with seagates.

This web site lists the D90SM-12 @ 59.3 m3/h or 35 cfm (2200 rpm).

So according to the specs in the post above, the D90SL-12 (1350 rpm) flows 49.3 m3/h.

(35 cfm / 59.3 m3/h) * 49.3 m3/h = 29 cfm, although that does seem on the high side.

The nmb-mat FBA09A12L-1BX seems to have some undesirable chipset (IC) noise, but the L-1A or L-1AZ models are a different story. They don't have rpm sensing, but the chipset is very quiet. You also want to avoid fans sold as surplus or rejects. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v732/glenngaryglenros...

I found these specs for the D90SL-12 as translated from german:
D90SL-12

Volume dB/a approx.: 19.5
Air mechanical handling capacity up to 49,3 m ³ /h (@ 12V)
Number of revolutions approx.: 1350 rpm (+-10%)

CFM would then be ~ 29

The neo he 500w has a high speed fan (~3000rpm) vs. the medium speed fan (~2400rpm) of the neo he 430w that spcr tested. A psu duct might help - search for "psu duct". You can try running the psu outside of the case to see if the fan ramps up less. Or, I guess there could be something wrong with the...

The watercooling kits at www.swiftech.com are pretty good, but you might end up with a component or two that you don't need. For example, you might want different fans or a t-line instead of a reservoir. You might want to substitute a d-tek fuzion waterblock for the apogee. Their kits provide a basi...

What cpu do you have? At what speed do you run the zalman fan? The nexus 92 pushes less air than the yate loon 92 at the same rpm. In fact, the nexus doesn't create much air flow at all - supposedly 27cfm @ 1500rpm (mfg spec) while the new nmb-mat creates 43cfm at 2100rpm (mfg spec). The yate loon D...

May I ask what kind of case you are using (did I miss something)? Even quiet power supplies with 80mm fans like the neo he are often ducted to insure the intake fan gets cool air. If your power supply is getting hot air from inside the case the power supply fan will ramp up. You may want to read thi...

Yeah, I agree they need to be cooled. You still need air flow to cool hard drives, psu, and chipsets.

I like the black ice gts, but there are some others to consider. I would search for the threads at spcr about the swiftech mc...

Yes, the 430w model spcr tested used a medium speed fan. I'm not sure if that is really a problem or not, but I don't think I would use a nexus 80mm as the only fan in the lower chamber. I don't have a p180, but some users remove the psu fan and only use the lower chamber fan to pull air through the...

Yeah, that just shows the basic strategy of rebranding fans. Just take reject or surplus panaflos, raise the price, and sell them to the unsuspecting public.

Or, take a $5.00 yate loon (~ $1 in quantities), call it a nexus, and give them to spcr. I own a few as well.

The silenx fan in the review was an old model just like the papst and nmb samples. You still need air circulation for the motherboard, hard drives, and video cards, as you've discovered. It could take a while for all the air bubbles to bleed out of your system. If you system sounds like a noisy aquarium, I agree with noobtard that you probably still have a lot of air bubbles in you system. Raising the resevoir higher that the other components will help make the air rise to the top and out through the reservoir. Also, turn the radiator upside down to releas...
