The SSD came with a mounting bracket so I put it in a drive bay. I did have the WD soft mounted. The SOLO is a GREAT case for that. But less noise is less noise, and I relegated the WD to external backup on ESATA. I did push in some cables. As long as air flow is not blocked, and I do not think it i...

[Further] update on my SOLO build...
I believe I may have achieved the fastest, coolest, stablest and most silent build possible. Silent Nirvana I call it. Let me explain: I built this... http://picasaweb.google.com/capedave.bell/NewHeatSink# And was so happy with the silence of it all I almost did not bother to put in an SSD. After al...

I have overclocked to the highest setting as seen on the jpg. And show the fan speed and temp in jpg. Amazing.
And this is at the very lowest voltage possible with the kit they sent me. ULEV or something like that.

I put in the whole Noctua unit and it is much better than the Intel, Yes! I may give this fan a try as now it comes down to the finer points of silence which is the "quality" of what little noise there is. http://www.scythe-usa.com/product/acc/063/sflf92_detail.html Or maybe a Gentle Typhoon? Yes, so far I like it. I know the paste has to settle in. Sure is a whole lot bigger than that Intel piece of crap, for sure! I am using an SSD now which I may keep or sell, not too sure. With just that, if I took out the WD Black 1TB it would be even quieter. Although that is really one super quiet...

Holy Mother of God! I went ahead and installed the Noctua 9B. I put in one fan on ULEV. I can here the quiet fridge in the other room, but cannot hear my computer! I am going to have to open the case to see if the fan is spinning. This is one SILENT computer I can hardly believe it. I was very caref...

I just tried both. The 5 volt works as I wanted. And I bet with that much better heatsink than the Intel that even on 5 volts I will be fine, as long as she starts up reliably. Now I got to take apart the MB and install my first backplate. Which I really only want to do once. Learned long ago, do no...

Difference between 3 pin and four pin fan?
Reason I ask is that I compared my stock CUP fan to my up and coming Noctua 92mm fan that came with my 9B heatsink. (In fact 2 of them came with) and was VERY surprised to hear an unacceptable high pitch to the Noctua. My 120mm Noctua case fan is inaudible. CRAP! I am not even going to bother instal...

Man, I wish I had seen this Scythe Yasya http://www.scythe-eu.com/en/products/cpu-cooler/yasya.html before I got my Noctua 9B which requires MB removal and that is why it is not installed. I am going to search for MikeB and his replacement of the stock Intel Fan with a Nexus, of which I happen to ha...

Update on my solo build...
A month back I built this... http://www.silentpcreview.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=57894 Now the whine of the Intel stock fan is grating on me. I knew it wold eventually. I have in my possession a Noctua 9B dual fan CPU cooler. Will only use one fan. So, I have never put a backplate on and want to be...

It was always my intention to dump the Intel. After agonizing, I had the Noctua 9B Se2 on order. 20 days later (so much for patience) it had not come so I canceled the order and was back at square one. Although I had thought of a HUGE cooler (assuming it would fit in the case) and trying it passive ...

Very interesting idea. Would the PSU fan therefore be able to rid the case of the hot air? Without speeding up too much? It also might be interesting with the duct but with the case fan still going out. I know what you mean about the cooler intake air, but I like the idea of it getting out the hotte...

Which CPU cooler for this rig?
I had a Noctua NH-U9B SE2 CPU cooler on order but they wold not ship to a PO Box. So, although I may still very well get that same one, I am open to suggestions. Here is my build. http://www.silentpcreview.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=57894 It needs to weigh closer to a pound than a kilo. Reasonably e...
