Agreed. I also had a super loud pc (70mm ceredyna, 120mm delta 65db 220cfm, 4 dynaflow 39db, 2 vantec tornado) and then I discovered this site.

I now have a VERY silent pc, with the help of ghetto rigging.

Glad to see another person from Vancouver. Cheers.

I was wondering, why not keep the fans in, so it would re-circulate the oil around, and have a big pump, very powerful and silent (eheim is good) pumping oil thru some tygon, hooked up to copper tubing, in a coil, and some LN2 all around in a seperate container so it would chill the oil, and recircu...

I also live in vancouver, and the place I go to to buy pc parts, most of the stuff there is pretty cheap (Anitec, over on kingsway, near the fountain tire). The 2.5" Notebook samsung 80gb is $120 over there. Their site is anitec.ca.

Actually, I suggest the Geforce 7's because they're cooler than the 6's. Just slap on an arctic cooling NV silencer or a zalman vnf, a zalman cnps 7700 cu on the cpu, (preferably asus a8n-sli premium, most room between pcie's and Passive NB + Chipset) suspend the hard drive,s have 2 80's set as raid...

The TT BigWater pump is Very weak. If you're going to swap it, you need to find something that's 1/4" ID, which limits your performance. I suggest you get a good powerful pump like an eheim 1250, which should easily handle it while being quiet. That, paired up with a Dangerden TDX, and a res of your...

Eheim's are pretty quiet, same with hydor's, dangerden CSP Mag, and most pumps in general. I'd think an eHeime 1048 should be very very quiet.

- has a motherboard tray ( a must , since i plan to do a lot of changes) As long as you realise neither P180 or Stacker have removeable mobo-trays. The Stacker Does have a removable mobo tray. It just has, IIRC, 15 screws to remove to get to it. You might wanna consider the Lian Li V series....

Seeing how the Pentium M is similar in design to an Athlon XP (exposed die) and the XP takes a zalman 7000 just fine, due to the mounting, I'm sure you can use a zalman 7000 just fine. Also, the 7000 is spec'd for socket 479, so 478 coolers might not fit. the 7700 fit because it's height adjustable....

How do these two fans compare?

I have two fans: one yate loon D80SH-12. It's the one with mountings only on one side, and it measures 80x80x25. The other is a chieftec-rebranded yate loon d80s m -12. I was wondering, which of the two is quieter? I'd be willing to swap out the Sh-12 in my psu, if I knew the SM-12 was quieter. Also...

Picard, where in canada do you live? I also measure about an inch from the sidepanel, but the fan does not draw air from the side panel. It draws from the air circulating in your case. Would it be possible to apply it, put on speedfan and prim95, monitor temperatures on load, then lower speeds gradulay until it hit 65 or so degrees, then stop the prime95 and raise the fan speed? No damage to fans. Easily controlled.

I disagree. Copper, is far better than aluminum for transfering heat. Aluminum however, is way cheaper, and easier to machine into complicated designs with more surface area. Basicly, aluminum doesn't trasnfer as well, but easier to machine for more surface area.

Not much.
Is two fans a big improvement, or would one fan in the back keep things flowing?
One is plenty if the front is open.

DFi nf4 ultra-D is pretty good. if you have one of the older revisions, you can mod it to sli with a pencil.

A fan I think you should have a look at.

Ultra Titanium-finish case fan
120 x 120 x 25 (mm)
3.60 w power consumption
1800rpm
70.09 CFM
34.25 dBA
0.119 inch/h20

I got one a few months ago, haven't opened it until now. It's pretty "bling bling," and if those specs are true, then it should be pretty quiet and move sufficent air.

Try getting a shroud for one, so the deadspot can be eliminated.

Get one that has mounts for your case, and use those silicone grommets to silence it.

choose some high cfm low noise fans

Make sure the barbs are the size of your tubing.

Mine is extremely quiet. Try putting some foam on the side that contacts the case, and then use some elastic (sewing kind) to hold it on. It should reduce vibrations significantly.
