I think the May date is a reliable date. it is possible that the speed race w/ ATI is at least an equal priority. There are several leaks disclosing an nVidia plan to time announcement of the 8900GTX and 8950GX w/ ATI's R600 release. These cards may come to market as early as May. Click http://www....

We all may have to wait until May according to this source for the 8600s to hit retail. I'm really very dissappointed that they released the 8800GTS 320mb already, and are still squeezing profits outa the 8800 line with the value Dx10 cards ready for production. Pretty good business sense, but consu...

Suggestions? x1950PRO vs. 8600 Ultra

A little background. I've never been an early adopter of computer hardware. I've always bought older components because they offered more bang for the buck. I've never spent more than $100 on a graphics card, although I've been gaming since Voodoo cards. All that is about to change.. I'm building a ...

You should be able to get a Geforce7 series AGP on that budget. However, go mow lawns, have a garage sale, put in an extra day at work, etc so you afford a little more.

I believe the Ultra microfly offers slighty more room than the Qpack. Including an extra inch or so beyond the board next to the CPU socket. You might check into one if you haven't already purchased the Qpack.

If the Sonata3 hits shelves at or slightly above the current Sonata2's price point, you are getting a quality $100 PSU + case for pennies on the dollar. That sells the Sonata3 to me. I will be picking one up first week they are out most likely, although I may have to wait until the passive x1950s an...

If you do plan on springing for something better than a 7600GS, I wouldn't suggest a 7600GT. The ATI Radeon x1950 PROs are really the best bang for your gaming dollar. A pretty good recent write up done here on Toms. Be aware however the x1950 PROs are almost 11 inches in length. A might bit larger ...

Undervolting AMD X2 4200+ AM2 @ LR

Stumbled on this gem of an article while looking for AM2 Sempron undervolting. Definitely worth a read.

I am really liking that Sonata 3! Does anyone have an idea on the price those things will be shipping at? Retail & Discount outlets?

I might just put off a couple builds I was planning if I can pick one of those up for less than $200 US.

Don't worry, Meato , you aren't just sharing a sty with a bunch of media hogs. I'm using less than half of my 20 GB drive (forgive me for not itemizing it.) Lotsa people out there who don't need much storage (at least at the present time), but maybe not to be found here. Heh, I see this. I don't kn...

Just how much HD space are you using?

I was d/l some benchmarking apps last night and browsing my downloads folder. I noticed some Linux ISOs I had already burned. I figured I better remove them to clear up some HD space. Then I got to wondering just how much space I was actually using on my 3yr old system. Come to find out I was only u...

Well, it is shared, but hasn't been posted to the public lists yet. Yes, I've really wanted a PD805 since I read the post on Tom's. Also, saving me about $200 on CPU + RAM. I'll update when it is posted to public lists. Both are tremendous upgrades over our current systems; AthlonXP 2400+ 1gb DDR333...

Two Intel PCs in P150s

Mid-range gaming rigs for my wife and I. Both OC'd to temps around 55C on the CPUs under 100% load ideally. Ninja, exhaust, and one intake filled by Nexus fans from EPCN. Comments and concerns appreciated. She gets the E6400 by the way :D

Wouldn't even need something Ninja'esque. This POS Dell i'm using at the moment has a Celeron D 315 with stock heatsink, but fan removed, and one 80mm fan to exhaust.

Guts of a file server / host machine?

I could use some help/suggestions on the motherboard, processor, and software I would like to use for my upcoming Fileserver build. The machine will be housed in an out-of-the-way spot such as a bedroom/linen closet upstairs. Dealing with noise won't be much of a problem, but I'm sure heat will to s...

I will be using the Zalman 7700AlCu in my pentium builds for the simple fact that I will be OCing and I do not intend on running my HS passively. Weight is also a concern if you are going to be moving your case, even if its just around your desk to clean/swap rear connections.

I might suggest this Gigabyte 7300GT . It is the best performing 7300gt card. Passively cooled with 256mb memory. All for <$80. The 7600 sounds beyond your needs, if we're just talking photo editing. If in fact you do want to drop a couple hundred on a card, I'd suggest this Gigabyte 7900GT . It com...

Really? Have you actually seen the DVI output from a GeForce 6150 or are you basing this on other integrated video chips with D-Sub out? It is knotted just as in the top picture. If you mean twist the part holding the drive? Uh, rolled the top and bottom over each other and inserted one side of the drive at a time.
