OMG. After some careful testing (with my finger), the case fan was not found to be the loudest remaining source of noise. IT'S THE RADEON 9800 PRO!!! I stopped the fan for a couple of seconds, and it is indeed, by a huge factor, the largest source of noise. I might need to look into purchasing the ...

Re: Zalman FB123 with 120mm fan and SLK-900?
Hello everybody, Has anyone tried to use the Zalman FB123 fan bracket with a 120mm fan too cool an SLK900 heatsink? If not, does anyone have any comments about quietness/cooling capacity of such a set-up? Would it be more effective/quiet than a 92mm fan mounted directly on to the heat sink? I am no...

well mine was making a noise that was quit audible. you could easily hear it over the noise of the rest of the computer at any distance in the same room. i checked out the PSU reviews and the seasonic tornado seems to have the better efficiency rating. so i think i'll go with the 400w version of th...

Nice work on your HTPC! Some HTPC's use two TV cards also to display window-in-a-window TV output, so that two different TV programs can display simultaneously on the same screen. FJC, can you do this with your HTPC rig? Are you using the standard manufacturers' software, or perhaps some other front...

*bonk* Ofcourse! Thanks for bringing my mind back... It is ofcourse listed as a product om Zalmans site. The name is ZM17-CU to be exact. From the looks of it the base is aluminium and the fins copper. Isn't this really strange as it is the opposite of how good CPU coolers are made? Shouldn't rever...

For the record, I'm typing this right now using the machine in my sig below. I could keep my hand on the fins of this fanless PSU indefinitely, it doesn't get very hot. Also, the PSU makes no sound at all, nothing, nada. I would recommend the Nexus PSU to you for a next-try, if you can't get rid of ...

...I ran my ti4200 with the stock fan unplugged for a couple months. And this was with no additional fan for it. The GPU got DAMN hot, but never did give me artifacts or errors in a 3DMark loop... That is amazing. What did you eventually do with the card, did you end up putting a fan on it anyway? 8)

In one of my home gaming rigs I use the Zalman ZM-17 on a retail Radeon 8500 128MB, along with the Zalman bracket and an 80mm fan running at just under 5V ( not a Panaflo L1A fan, which I find to be too noisy for my quiet systems). Has run great for years this way. I even used to turn off the overhe...

Re: Horizontal or Vertical suspension?
No. In fact, vertical install is part of the normal orientation in some computer cases. As long as you don't have the drive installed at a sloped angle, you should be fine!Fastman wrote:...Does it matter if the hard drives are installed vertically or horizontally?...
