al bundy - Great user name. :) Starting with a thin layer is best. Given a flat CPU and well finished heatsink, a translucent layer is all that is necessary. Thanks for your reply. :) Based on the above comments, it sounds like some builders are actually using a much larger amount of TIM than neces...

Hi Mr. Thompson, Thanks for advising about the dust issue. That makes sense. Could you also please comment on another issue presented here, namely: Whether being careful about the initial thickness of TIM on the processor might not really matter, since the excess TIM just gets pressed out when apply...

No, to the best of my knowledge, no subwoofer has a S/PDIF input, ... The subwoofer in my sig (MegaWorks THX 2.1 250D speakerset) has an RCA S/PDIF input, with true 24-bit/96kHz built-in DACs and a nice 99dB signal-to-noise ratio (which is quite good for multimedia desktop speakers). However, it is...

[...(I'm Goyim, so don't ask me for details...) Gooserider, FYI, here's a link about that disparaging term goyim . Didn't know about the temperature factor. In any event, if it is at all usefull for anything i will let everyone know. I agree with Tsubo that this item has obvious possibilities for uses within a computer case (in spite of the temperature factor). I have considered ordering a free block of this fo...

PCP&C claims an MTBF of 100,000+ hours for these ballbearing fans. I've never seen one fail or degrade in any way.zuperdee wrote:...I guess it just goes to show though that even ball bearings CAN be quiet, if they are done right.
So do you know by any chance what the life expectancy of the Silencer is?

I have this hard disk in my laptop and it's very quiet. There is NO whine and some very soft seeks (only when you are pressing your ear against it ;)). It's slow although you could put two in a RAID-0 with SATA adapters to make up for it. -Por Hi PorBleemo, Which specific laptop drive are you refer...

I agree, there are many reasons one could have for choosing a "favorite" format. Personally, I nowadays just use EAC to pull best-quality disk images directly to .wav/.cue. I prefer the simplicity/compatibility, have no problem with space, and never want to worry about it any further than that. :D 8)

Re: cooling old socket370
I currently have the intel boxed heatsink/fan solution for the p3-933 (coppermine?) its a socket 370 chip, and after solving other noise problems id like to quiet this down. Theres the zalman cu 6000? but that seems like it might be overkill. Any reccomendations for silent (or very quiet) heatsinks...
