Firstly have you suspended your HDs in any way because if not then that will be producing allot more vibration than 50 fans. I would say you don’t need the AcoustiFeet Vib-Absorbing Soft Case Feet if because you can cut out vibration within the case then it won’t be transferring to the case itse...

Where are you based? When you talk about Quiet PCs do people understand that it is Quiet PCs, not just slightly less noisy PCs? I am Based in the UK oxford to be exact. and yes i do understand that. i think it would be quite a good thing to do for an office to take down the ambiant noise of the com...

I see, well i guess ill just ask is it worth it, there is a 100BaseT PCI card with the comptuer and as a 1000BaseT PCI card is about £10 will i see that much of a diffrence with 1000BaseT over 100BaseT? You can get a real-world improvement in network bandwidth by a factor of 3 to 6. 100Mb NIC = re...

The bandwidth of 1000BaseT is not THAT much greater than PCI bus bandwidth, but more importantly the bandwidth of either is significantly greater than what's probably hooked up to either end of the data transfer. In other words, the bottleneck is more likely the data rate of the hard drive rather t...

PCI-X is usually reserved for server mobos for using SCSI controllers and NICs with high throughput. You won't find them on standard consumer level mobos. Nor will you find many useful items for use on such a computer. I don't know if 1000BaseT cards exist for PCI, but since that would be over the ...

PCI-X? Confused
What is this about PCI-X im looking for a Gigabit Ethernet card for an oldish computer (Athlon 1.5 GHz) and I see that it says PCI-X next to them, from what I gather PCI-X is just PCI that can run 1gbs how new is this? I can’t seem to find information on weather my motherboard has PCI-X or is it j...

I ran my main PC for a while with the fan removed from the psu. In short I set up my case ventilation with 'positive pressure' - a nice slow 120mm fan on the lower front as an intake, and the psu as the main exit (i.e. most others taped up). I was using a cheapo psu (OEM Allied/Deer) that cost abou...

wait is the fan sucking air thru the Artic silencer or is it blowing thru? In the pic, it is sucking or is just that way for reference I would imagine that sucking thru a small opening would be more efficient than blowing which Isaac Kuo explained thru the use of big words :) And is it outside of t...

Just power on the fan and see what you get. Feel how much airflow you get, and note the level of noise. That'll give you the answers you need. I think you'd probably want to go with a HIGH airflow voltage setting, but that this will actually result in low airflow due to the airflow bottleneck. I'm ...

Your fan is way too big for that duct, but it might work out anyway. Roughly speaking, airflow is limited by the bottleneck of the smallest cross sectional area. The fan provides a particular pressure difference, and the airflow is roughly determined by the product of this pressure times the smalle...
