mmm they are not really doing anything new here.
They are selling xx8 processors underclocked/undervolted to xx6 speed. These have the same price as xx8 but a much lower heat.
The same effect can be achieved by underclocking/undervolting any processor.

gustavs_a Looking at your spec you have 2 case fans at 5V, presumably one input and one exhaist. As a result there is very little cooling air in your case, at anything other than idle all your temp controlled fans will speed up, but they will not achieve much, they just stir up the hot air. I think ...

There is a lot of air in the reservoir and it looks from the photos as if there are air bubbles in the res water. Add more water so that there is no air pocket in the res, that way no air will get sucked into the pump., hence no air pocket in the Rad. A smaller, less powerful pump / bigger res would...

"I've been shopping for Seagate Barracuda IV 40 gig hard drives" Are you sure. Barracuda IV went out of production a long time ago, they were replaced by Barracuda V which in turn was replaced by the Barracuda 7200.7 about a year ago. Barracuda IV were only sold (new) with a 3 year warrenty, the one...

Yes I wanted off up to 40C, then the fan ramps up to 12V at 55C

Originally I could have 6v up to 40C, but if the fan ever stopped then I was in trouble.
Updating the BIOS etc has made it unusable.

I criticised it in earlier posts. Using newer BIOS, and other drivers has changed things considerably, but not for the better. The minimum fan voltage has been raised to about 8 volts, on everything except Smart mode, so the fans never stop but are not that quiet either. Smart mode is really bad, th...

There are charts showing corrosion potential, you can find them online. Per the chart, adding zinc will make you...

water conducts a little bit but not much. If you use water additives then they may make a difference, but I doubt it. In some systems everything is earthed, which causes a problem, but you will be OK from your description. if you have an ohms meter then measure the resistance, >10000 ohms is OK <100...

If the alu is annodised or electrically insulated from the copper then it will not corrode.

Otherwise put a piece of zinc into the rad or res, then it will corrode instead of the aluminium.

All the heat extracted from the radiators is blown INTO the case, which can not be good. With only a single fan extracting air from the case the case temperature must be very high, where dit you measure the 29C that you claim? There does not appear to be room for even a single CD drive, dispite usin...

Yes the weight and size worried me as well.
If it mounted using the 4 motherbord holes then there would not be a problem, but for a clip on HS, it looks a bit dodgy to me.

No

3 dBA = twice as much eg 2 fans instead of 1

Might not sound twice as loud to a human ear, but there is still twice as much noise.

Yes it is a welcome move, an official definition of Quiet is long overdue, just a shame they used Bels instead of dBA, makes comparisons harder.
Only Dell make non standard hardware, but that is still a lot of PCs
