3 SATA drives ?
All the SATA motherboards I know of will only take 2

I agree 60mm fans are too small

I only know one good PC shop in Belgium, can I ask where you are getting the bits from ?

Yes I was relying on MBM, using a multimeter the 5v is actually 4.95 not 4.8, the 12V rail was correct at 12.15v. AOpen SilentTek reports the same voltages as MBM, so the measurement error must be on the motherbord. The only voltage they disagree on is the 3.3 volt line where SilentTec gives 3.47v t...

12v and 3.3v are both 1% high, 5v is 4% low
Suppose I could make a small adjustment

Does anyone know which voltage lines are the most important on an Athlon board ?

Voltage Mod

I have an FSP PSU, but the 5volt rail is a bit low (4.8v at idle).

Is there an adjustment pot that can be tweeked or some other mod to raise the voltage a bit ? The PC works OK and all oter voltages are within 1% of nominal.

I have modded the fan so can not send it back.

Depends upon the power and whether efficiency matters or not.

If this is just for a fan, then use zenner diodes to give a 12 vold drop
For an entire PC you will need something more complicated.

The capacitor will get hot if it is touching metal to metal. Even a small gap would be much better.

No

The Baracuda 7200.7 datasheet says 2.8A max.
SCSI drives would be more than that, so that gives one per connector

Power companies charge for VA, so PFC will reduce your bill.

The power companie measures your current, not power, they then multiply the current by voltage and express the result as power.
If your PFC is 1 then the power figure is true, but otherwise the true power is less than your bill says.

If it is not quiet it is because it is overloaded and you need an additional fan. If you reduce its speed y...

The 9600 is made with a 0.13 process whereas the 9200 and 9800 are made with something larger, so the 9600 has lower power and heat than the 9800, so it does not need a ZM80A to be fanless

There are only exhaust fans. The case is very open. If your case side is removed then you just need a CPU fan, otherwise you need the input and exaust fans to balance. Is one of the exausts in the PSU ? 2 or 3 exausts with no inputs will always give high temps, Try turning one of the exausts into an...
