Hmm...I'm inclined to say that the voltage problems aren't from your mods, as the CPU runs on the 12v rail and the fan should be on a seperate system entirely... If the system's running fine then I wouldn't worry about it too much, but if you're anything like me thinking about it is gonna drive you ...

Does make some nice heatpipe based solutions for Xeon, might be worth checking out. http://www.supermicro.com/products/accessories/index.cfm I would say that this with some nice panaflo fan would give you good coling AND some well deserved peace ;-) http://www.thermalright.com/a_page/main_product_s...

I found this http://www.svc.com/mcx604-v-12.html but I'm not sure you wanna drop $55 a cooler. I'm sure these are quieter than your stock fans, though[/url] The last HSF I showed you was discontinued, here's an updated one http://www.coolerguys.com/840556037125.html They're expensive and don't come...

I've had about 3 VF-700AlCu's and 1 VF-900Cu. For some reason I found that the 700's had a better sound quality. They all made way too much noise at full speed, but at 5v-7v the 900 had an extra sound, like pieces of paper rubbing against each other. It was much more noticable on the 900 than on the...

I'm not sure why your system would be that loud. Clovertowns come in two flavors, 85W and 120W, based on the voltage. Neither is particularly hot compared to a Netburst Xeon. The socket does present a challenge for using an aftermarket heat sink. If you could find a way to mount it, a Ninja, or Ult...

Am I the only one who actually has a ridiculously hot processor on a Ninja? I have a Socket 478 Prescott 3.0E GHz @ 3.72, stock Scythe fan at 7v, and it cools it perfectly. I love silence, but I've never really had a problem balancing silence and performance. I'm just curious if anybody else has rea...

Zalman 3100+? Passive?
Hey all, I just picked up an old Dell system, and I know it's old but I decided to upgrade it. It comes stock with a Celeron processor, but I'm getting an 850MHz Pentium III to stick in it. I was looking for a quieter HSF for it, since the stock one makes an annoying high-pitched whine. I was lookin...

The GeForce 7 series is extremely efficient and doesn't have high power consumption, but with a vanilla 200W PSU you're pushing it... It really doesn't get better in terms of power consumption than the 7600 series, so I would invest in a beefier power supply. That'll set you back a good $70 for a re...

It's a tough call. The only experience I have with the E6600 is on my friend's new build. He had a Zalman 9500 on it running at minimal speeds. After overclocking to around 3.5GHz, it was running around 60C, so borderline. That's with active cooling, but again that's with a huge overclock. I would g...

Just like everybody else is saying, you should be fine. I had an OEM supply that I replaced the stock fan on and put a Nexus @ 5v...haha I smelled something a few days later. The Nexus made barely any airflow though, so I'm sure you'll be fine. Mine didn't feel hot at all, either. I'd run the fan @ ...

Silencing a 7800GS AGP?
Hey, I'm looking to buy a high-performance AGP card to go with my aging system. I was looking at a 7800GS AGP, but because of the high-speed interconnect I can't seem to find any silent coolers that are compatible. Does anybody know of one? If not, are there any cards for AGP with comparable muscle ...
