[Finished - Final pics]Torajirou's quiet HTPC

Hi ! I decided a while ago to replace the old PC I was using as HTPC for multiple reasons : even though it was silent, it took too much real estate for an HTPC (Antec Solo + old Kenwood stereo (1994)) and had trouble reading some HD sources (no decent graphics card and quite old CPU)... And of cours...

Nice Puget build, as always. I have to say I didn't bother to take a look at the customization options avaiable from Puget, but I suspect there is no decent gaming offering. I would say : throw in an HD5850 with a TR heatsink and an undervolted Nexus fan, and you've got yourself a splendid silent r...

[Mistake corrected in OP]Asus EAH4870 DK 1G fails after POST

Hi guys, I finally got my CP-850 on Saturday and finished my long-awaited new build (specs here ). Unfortunately, my graphics card seems to have trouble getting past the POST; after 10 seconds or so, the display goes off and two red leds go on on the back of my graphics card (D1601 and D601, which s...

I've been waiting for this PSU to be available in Belgium for months now. It's the only missing part for my new P183 rig. Reading this review has only made me even more impatient. It should become available next week. I can't stand the waiting ! >.< I hope that by reading this, all the standards-obs...

There's a small typo on page 3 : "The motherboard has (to) be mounted after the power supply" ;-) I still don't understand what the target audience of this case is. Newbie silencers that don't know there are much better offers in Antec's catalog ? For the same price, you get an Antec Solo, that offe...

- buy an SSD adapter for mounting SSDs in 3.5 inch bays - OCZ makes some and they should work with your SSD as well. - Use this adapter to either mount your SSD using the holes at the bottom of your case or in the floppy drive bay. Beware ! I bought one of those OCZ brackets, and not only are they ...

Latest problem solved, everything is installed... except the PSU that's still not available here. I stumbled on another problem : I bought Thermalright's AMD duct, instead of the Intel one (for the only reason that it was not even listed in my retailer's catalog). The ADM duct is longer, so it's a t...

Re: Some questions regarding RAID

Sorry for these stupid questions, but I have never messed with a RAID setup. Stupid questions? Not at all. If you are getting a motherboard with hardware RAID support, configuration will most likely be done via BIOS or a utility executed on POST. You want a RAID1 setup most likely and in this case ...

when I buy my next computer, one of the first things ill be doing is cutting out the exhaust grill on the back and replacing it with either nothing or a low resistance wire grill. i'm not exactly sure why you would have to break the fan to get it off..a picture would help. but I'm betting its nothing that a set of wire cutters couldn't fix. Just break the soft mount if u have to get it off..no? The fan isn't installed yet. Actually, I stopped trying to install it when I real...

P182/183 middle fan mount issue

Hi ! I'm slowly but surely building my new rig . The last part is still missing, though : an Antec CP-850. For some reason, it keeps being delayed and won't be available until July 23rd. Anyway, that's not the issue here. I got my Nexus fans yesterday, and tried to mount them (rear exhaust and middl...

I will never trust a single HDD for storage anyway.

It will eventually fail someday. Then you have to pray that you migrate the data before it does. That's as scary as Russian roulette for me.

Redundancy is the way to go IMHO.

As explained here , I'm about to build my second (hopefully) quiet PC. The GPU fan is a blower type barely 2 inches wide hence it doesn't need to go as low rpm wise to compete with 12cm fans. I found this out by turning off all fans in my case and then hear what the gpu fan sound like. The default 27%(1200 rpm) is right at the spot where it's inaudible. But when bumpe...

why did you choose the Nexus over the Noctua fans? The Noctuas are now recommended over the Nexus. That's not entirely true. i think that you did o.k. paying the $100 premium for the Q9550S, although matching it with a gaming video card does create a bit of a dichotomy... it would have been easier to justify the better thermal performance of the cpu, if the goal was a noiseless computer that didn't do any gaming. The goa...
