Re: 120V AC squirrel cage fan needed for fireplace 'heatilat
How about a fan blowing into a rectangular box, with the bottom ends of the tubing connected? front view(with front of 'box' cut out): |----------------------------| | O O O O O O <------{fan} |----------------------------| This would put 'positive pressure' in the box, which in turn, would force ai...

The 65W TDP is misleading, because it's used for virtually the entire Core 2-based family, up to the 3GHz E6850. The realworld power measurements place the E2100 series at <30W full-load. I wasn't aware of that - know that, the results are making more sense. Do the Celerons run much cooler than the...

Just for claritys sake, the Dual-Core would be an E2180 model? Anyways, not surprised to see the difference, the Pentium Ds were pretty much an atrocity as far as heat dissipation is concerned. :p Yes, it's the E2180. I was sure there was going to be a difference, but I didn't expect it to be so dr...

65W vs. 95W – temperature differences
Components: Antec Solo Abit IP-95 Zalman cpns7000 SeaSonic S12-330 Yate Loon D12SL-12, 5V Former cpu: Pentium D 805 2.66Ghz. 95 W Replaced by: Dual-Core 2.0Ghz. 65 W Ok, so first of all, the Pentium D is the wrong processor to use if silence is a priority (the last time I upgraded, I hadn’t notice...

I wish these companies would actually research what people want to do with their products (Marketing 101) rather than just throwing stuff out there and seeing if it sticks. I agree. I thought about getting this board, but decided against it. I still think it's a great bargain, but like you said, I ...

They're not designed to be ripped apart and re-soldered like this. Such an experiment would prove nothing. Well, if there wasn't any liquid inside the pipes before (which is what Phoronix was suggesting), the performance before and after would be very similar. The vacuum would not be there any more...

Hmm. I wonder if there was simply too small a volume of liquid for them to actually see it? I seem to remember that headpipes don't need very much in order to be effective. A good way to test this (I wish that Phoronix would have done this) would be to sauter the pipes back together, and do a 'befor...

The 900 is nice, but if you want a quiet pc, I think the P180/P182 would be a better option. It's size (and price) are similar to the 900 (IIRC). I also like the isolated area for hard drive/power supply. If silence is a concern, the 180's probably a better option. I would also recommend a 'non-stoc...

bgil, The relationship between RPM and Voltage is approximately linear. So, (your numbers are convienient) if the fan turns at 1200rpm at 12 volts, it will turn at 1000rpm at 10 volts, 500 rpm at 5 volts, etc. If the numbers are different, use a ratio. I.e. if it's 1500 rpm at 12 volts, use this 100...

Re: Thermalright Ultra 120 Vs Scythe Ninja, Hard decision
It could be simply be a case of experimental error. I'm not saying that anyone made an error, just that different tests, even with the same equipment, can give slightly different results. Mounting pressure was listed as a variable earlier, and there are others. Ambient temperature can be controlled,...

What I think is really funny, is that most of the time, when 'literally' is used incorrectly, what they really mean is 'figuratively'... kind of the opposite
