Metal or plastic dust filter?

I'm a bit confused about aluminum dust filters. Being a plastic dust filter user, I don't really understand the advantages of using the other kind. If you're confused about the ones I'm referring to, The plastic type looks like this: http://www.cooltechpc.com/ctpc/images/nexus_fan_filter.jpg And the...

Scythe's CPU Cooler Heatpipe direction.

I've read the manual for most of the CPU coolers from Scythe, and I found something confusing in the Orochi and Kabuto manual. Both manuals showed that the only orientations that couldn't be used are the ones with the heat pipes pointing downwards. Is there a reason for this? I thought that heat pip...

There's the Kaze Maru you can consider. There's 3 differeent models, 500rpm, 1200rpm, and 1900rpm.

However, the fan fits a 120mm^2 hole instead of a 140mm^2 hole, so it's not a real 140mm type.

I had a similar interest in installing a fanless PSU in a P18X case with a fan in the bottom chamber.

There's no problems. You HAVE to install a fan in the chamber though.

Most of the people in this forum would suggest that you buy a SPCR recommended fan PSU instead.

I kinda liked how they put out massive reviews at a time. It makes things a lot more convenient and comparable. That goes to the CPU roundup and the fan roundup that they eariler did.

Thanks. I've decided that I'll be using the original 4870/4890 heat sink after some stock paste cleaning and AC5 repasting, as well as using the AC S1 heat sinks for the exposed parts right in the place where the stock fan originally was in. That should lower the ram temperatures as much as possible.

Yes, it's quite expensive compared to other solutions. That makes things even better for some of us. It might mean that it's the new king. Some of us might be interested.

I also hope that the price will go down.

I think it would be a great idea, as it could be a place for software help like overclocking and underclocking, hardware monitoring, games, etc.

I think a computer is as good as it's hardware and software.

The Hr-01 Plus is lighter than most of the other coolers at 525mg, and performs very well with a low airflow fan. Oh yea, the Orochi is i7 compatible now as well.

I had a Sapphire 4870 and at stock it was still too noisy at idle. The best way I found to quiet the beast was to modify the bios to reduce 2D and UVD to GPU 160, Mem 225, voltage 1.083. It really slowed down the fan and didn't increase the video card temperature. The Toxic version, the Vapor versi...

I would go for the P183 if it's only about functionality. It has better airflow, and they moved the bottom chamber fan to the front.

However, Those kinds of improvements could be done on a P182 with some DIY mods.

Best Memory and Mosfet heatsink for AC S1?

From I've read, the heat sinks from the Arctic Cooling Accelero S1 isn't really good, so I'm planning on buying a separate set of heat sinks that are better at low air-flow conditions. The graphics card is a Radeon HD 4870 or 4890. It will be either be cooled either by the side (Middle drive bay of ...
