DonP,
The *new* PC-61 has the following changes:
1. Top fan and
2. The front fan control is OUTSIDE the front panel (ONLY the latest version of PC-61 has this new mod )
IMO top fan is good because the hot air tends to go up and having a top fan (at 7v) and 11.5 dba will aid in cooling

This is the million dollar question I am trying to find out! So far noboady has given me the specs to look for that will indicate the speed can be controlled by NERO. But I know for sure that PX-708A speed can be controlled by NERO - This is the most popular drive in the market and one cannot go wro...

DonP, I looked at the specs of the ADDA fans (the front and back) - model number AD0812LB-A76GL and the specs are 26.4 cfm & 22.5 dba at 12v, 15.4 cfm & 11.3 dba at 7v and 11 cfm & 4 dba at 5v - pretty impressive :D Also the speeds can be controlled! LIAN LI PC-61 Fan Mod Pictures & Experiences
I just got my PC-61 and I love it :D The two front fans are ADDA AD0812LB-A76GL rated at 26 cfm 22 dba and hence I plan no mods on this - instead I am planning to remove the front air filter and keep the fans in medium - That should work. Now the 80 case fan at the back is a different story  I ...

Thanks Edward! Ok you said ask... I am comparing NEC 2500A and PLEXTOR PX-708A - Now NEC 2500A is $97 from newegg.com and PX-708A is $175 (almost 80% more priced) - I checked CD freak for reviews of NEC-2500A and it seems to be good (a tad slower than PX-708A) and it has 8X speed on BOTH DVD+R & DVD...
